Please include a letter of recommendation between 600 and 1000 words from a collegiate chapter member, the collegiate chapter, or the group or individual nominating the advisor specifically addressing the following criteria: accomplishments of the chapter under the advisor’s leadership and demonstrated excellence as a collegiate advisor.
COLLEGIATE ADVISOR AWARD ~
Bachtel/Holbrook Collegiate Advisor Awards
The Collegiate Advisor Awards are granted annually to Phi Upsilon Omicron Collegiate Advisors to recognize distinguished service. The Bachtel/Holbrook Award will be given to one outstanding Advisor which includes a certificate, a piece of Phi Upsilon Omicron jewelry and a $300 Conclave travel award. Additionally, three other outstanding advisors will be recognized with monetary awards of $100 to be given for travel to Conclave.
ELIGIBILITY is determined by the following criteria:
1. Member of Phi Upsilon Omicron.
2. Current collegiate chapter advisor.
3. Demonstrated excellence as a collegiate advisor.
EVALUATION of nominees will be according to the following information:
1. Nomination letter; neat, accurate, and complete.
2. Accomplishments of chapter under nominee's leadership.
3. Phi Upsilon Omicron leadership as advisor, other responsibilities assumed in collegiate and/or alumni chapter, and national involvement.
4. Strength of Letter of Recommendation.
OPERATIONAL PROCEDURE
1. Nominations may come from a collegiate or alumni chapter, a region councilor, or an individual Phi Upsilon Omicron member.
2. The Selection Committee shall be composed of a past National President, the Advisor Councilor, and the National Collegiate Chair. The committee will be appointed by the national president.
3. Materials required for nomination shall be postmarked no later than November 1 and may include the following:
- Nomination Form;
- Letter of recommendation from a collegiate chapter member, the collegiate chapter, or the
group or individual nominating the advisor;
- Any additional documentation of leadership and service as collegiate chapter advisor
(Documentation can include newspaper clippings, accomplishments of chapter (e.g., awards,
scholarships established, under nominee’s leadership).
4. The Bachtel/Holbrook award shall include a certificate, an engraved piece of Phi Upsilon Omicron jewelry and $300 for travel to Conclave. Three additional outstanding Collegiate Advisors will be awarded $100 to travel to Conclave.
5. The award shall be presented at Conclave by the national Advisor Councilor or mailed to the chapter president for local presentation in non-Conclave years.
