The Working Mind (TWM) session is part of a series of leadership development opportunities designed to offer a variety of learning experiences that are feedback and relationship based, experience-based and education based.

The Working Mind – Manager Training - NEW to Red River College

For Supervisors and Managers- The workshop aims to increase awareness of mental health, reduce the stigma of mental illnesses, and offer resources to maintain positive mental health and increase resiliency. Equally important goals are to ensure you have the confidence, tools and resources to manage and support your employees who may be experiencing a mental illness and, to recognize the effects of the stigma of mental illness and attempt to reduce its impact.

The objectives of this course are:

  • To examine the effects of mental health problems and mental illnesses in the workplace
  • To help staff identify indicators of declining and poor mental health in themselves and others
  • To raise awareness about the stigma of mental illness and other barriers to treatment
  • To introduce the concept of the Mental Health Continuum Model
  • To review employees’, manager’, and employers’ mental health rights and responsibilities
  • To provide effective management tools to support employees who experience a mental illness
  • To provide strategies staff can use to maintain good mental health
