Classroom Mission Statement
Our mission is to enhance our minds in how we think about and accurately analyze situations.
Student Expectations
There are two values that I feel are the keys to success academically and in life. They are respect and hard work. In order to succeed in this course, I expect all of my students to respect themselves and others; and I also expect them to always put forth their best efforts. High level mathematics is comparable to learning a foreign language, so all students should practice the concepts whenever possible (both inside and outside of the classroom). The more you expose yourself to mathematics, the more comfortable you will become with it.
Tutoring
I will be available for tutoring at the following times (Starting September 6):
AM Tutoring: Tuesday, Wednesday [7:15am – 7:55am]
PM Tutoring: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday [4:00pm – 5:00pm]
* These tutoring times will remain consistent throughout the year unless told otherwise.
* If you need me outside of these listed times, please contact me to set up an appointment.
Students PLEASE UNDERSTAND that tutoring is not just a time to get help when you’re behind. I encourage ALL students to attend tutoring even when you feel that you fully understand the concepts, and I challenge you to ask questions beyond what is currently being taught. Getting ahead academically is NEVER a bad idea. Also, be very specific in your tutoring attendance. Develop questions that you want to ask before coming to make our time the most productive.
Materials
* Paper and Pencils (REQUIRED for all classes), all work/notes must be completed in pencil
* TI-Nspire CX (Recommended, but not required)
~ A graphing calculator is not essential to being successful in my courses, but it can help eliminate tedious calculations/graphing. If you can’t get your hands on one, a good alternative is the website www.desmos.com . This company also offers a free app! There are also other websites that allow you to calculate values that will be necessary for homework and classwork assignments.
Another benefit to having your own personal TI-Nspire CX is that you will become more familiar with the advanced calculator functions, which will allow you to work more efficiently with them during class exams and standardized tests.
Please communicate with me if you are having trouble obtaining any required materials for class.

All grading is consistent with the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy Handbook.
