Prairie Point Elementary Home and School would love for you to be a Parent Volunteer this 2017/2018 school year! We have MANY opportunities for you to choose from whether it be baking, helping at one of our events or helping from home! We have something for everyone!
Below is a list of ALL of our Home and School Committees with a brief description and when the event(s) will take place. Please review each committee and fill out the attached form if you would be interested in Volunteering to help during the event and/or possibly help plan an event. (Not all committees require volunteers.) Please complete the attached form and return to the school on or before September 29th.
Committees that are active only the 1st half of the school year:
Panther Fitness Challenge (volunteers needed): This is our annual school fundraiser, held at the beginning of the school year, to fund all Home and School activities and, most importantly teacher grants. Students gather monetary donations and we celebrate our success with a fun day of fitness, music and tons of school spirit. **Event will be held Friday September 29th**
Spirit wear: This quality sportswear is promoted in the fall and offers a wide variety of clothing for each season so the kids can enjoy them all year round. This committee also runs the grade level t-shirt design contest and organizes and sells the grade level t-shirts each year. **Occurs in the Fall**
Holiday Shop (volunteers needed): Holly Jolly Volunteers will help students shop, purchase and wrap gifts for their friends and family. Volunteers are also needed for set up, clean up, pictures with Frosty, and passing out complimentary cookies and hot cocoa. **Event will be Friday December 15th**
Committees that are active only the 2nd half of the school year:
Art To Remember: Coordinate the purchase of student artwork (that is completed during Art class with Mrs. Collins) that is transformed into memories like coffee mugs, magnets & t-shirts. Profits benefit the art department. **Early Spring**
Fun Fair: Help Organize and run this February Friday night event. It is a great opportunity for family members to escape cabin fever and enjoy some fun, food and frolics! **Event held on a Friday night in February**MORE COMMITTEE CHAIRS NEEDED**
Variety Show: This committee will help with decorations, check in and any assistance needed during the show. This is a perfect opportunity for those who have kiddos performing in the show this year! **Event will be Friday March 16th**
Field Day: A fun day of games and excitement for our students, including water balloons! The annual Field Day will take place on May 18th.
5th Grade Send-Off: The name says it all!! Organize an event to “send off” and say “farewell” to all of our 5th graders. The event is usually held in the evening, off campus near the end of school. **Event will occur near the end of School year**
Committees that are active all school year:
Appreciation (volunteers needed): This committee does something extra special each month for our fabulous Prairie Point Staff to show them how much we truly appreciate them! Whether it is supplying baked goods, part of a meal or making crafty stuff. We appreciate any/all help in and out of school! **Happens every month during the school year**
Beautification: Help keep our school green and beautiful. Beautify with decorations, school clean ups/plantings. **Events occur throughout the school year**COMMITTEE CHAIR NEEDED**
Box Tops for Education (volunteers needed): Clip, cut & trim to earn cash for school. This is the perfect opportunity for those who want to volunteer but cannot get to school to help! This is done from the comfort of your home! **Occurs year round**
Community Outreach: This committee focuses on helping in the community and school, including the annual district Kendall County Food Drive in the Fall.
Family Fun Nights: This committee plans multiple fun filled family evenings at various locations in the area and at school. (Bingo Night, Gym or Skate Night and more new and exciting events TBA) **Bingo Night (will coincide with the Book Fair October 17th), other events TBD
Father's Forum (volunteers needed): This is exclusively for our Panther Dads. This committee plans Donuts with Dad, Muffins with Mom, Daddy Daughter Dance and Father/Son picnic. **Events occur throughout the year**
Health and Wellness: Help set up and run 3 themed and organized “open gym” nights a year. It is a great way for families to come together, with other families and have fun. **One “open gym” in Fall, Winter, Spring**
PAWSS-Parents Assisting our Wonderful Staff and Students (volunteers needed): Weekly volunteers help at school to sort and stuff Thursday Folders (where almost all Home and School/district/school information/flyers will be sent home in) **Occurs every Wednesday afternoon and every Thursday Morning throughout the school year**
Rewards Committee: This committee will search for programs that reward our students for their hard work through-out the school year. Your student can earn FREE or discounted park passes, tickets to sporting events, and more (i.e. Raging Waves, Wolves tickets and Great America). **This will take place throughout the year**
Room Parents: This committee is to provide students with a great party experience at Halloween, Holiday and Valentines by having wonderful parent volunteer their time prepping and executing the party. **Events are 10/31, 12/21, 2/14**INFORMATION REGARDING SIGN UPS COMING SOON**
Tuesday Night Dinners: Parents have a night off from cooking while we earn money for school. The restaurants offer a generous percentage back to the school for their sales. Volunteers advertise these dinners through student’s Thursday folders, marquee, newsletter, etc. **Events take place at local restaurants twice a month throughout the year
