Millions of fans crying and chanting their name in the galeries, audiences equivalent to 40% of the population, millions of tickets sold for their shows, millions of interviews and pictures of them in the magazines, millions of dollars won… All of that took time and a lot of energy.In1963 America said : «The Beatles? Hum… Who are they ?».
In 1964: “The Beatles? The Gods of music?! Of course!” British pop stars teenagers arrived in New York City in a Boeing 707, as humble as they could. It had been expected by 55000 fans in the city, all the newspapers and the magazines in the country spoke about this fantastic event! People not only enjoyed, people were hysterical! This day was nicknamed the B-Day, did that mean “Beatles Day” or “Britain Day”? Even Elvis Presley in person congratulated them “America had finally been conquered”…
1965 was the Golden Age of our most famous British band, as they set out on another World Tour. America was not enough for them anymore, the Pop conquistadors flew over the seas and the oceans to conquer the lands of Australia and New Zealand. They discovered fame, and the world found a new leader named Britain.
London is now the most popular city in the world; it is the Swinging City! One of the main innovations in the 60’s is indisputably fashion. “Bye-bye” long grand-ma dresses for girls, “Ciao” supra sexy dungarees for boys! “Hello” miniskirts and high heels for girls! “Hello” shorts and bad attitude for boys! Both boys and girls have long hair. Total freedom!! Boys and girls smoke and drink of course! That’s the least we can say! England not only reigns on fashion and music. It has become the Sport Queen too, in July
1966,they became the Champions of the world after winning the Final which opposed England and Germany There was all the more a lot of pressure on the British team as bets on the winner were mostly in favor of them, millions of people wanted to see them, and they had already beaten Germany twice during the National Games. In fact, TVs took the match into 32 million homes around the world. And they did it, England won! A really big emotion, but not only for the audiences, for the players also, crying, feeling like heroes. It was the first time that football players were considered like pop-stars!Thanks to the Beatles partly, but also because populations were ready, things and times have changed. Is America still the most powerful country in the world? No, now, Britain is in the limelight! So, dear British fellow citizens , let’s have fun!
