Service provided / number of staff & equipment / The Borough Operations Centre operates a 24/7, 365 days multi functional service which includes the monitoring of the radio system and interaction with members of the Safe & Sound for Bars and Safer Business retailers for the purpose of:
• Contacting emergency services as notified as requested
• Ensuring where possible CCTV surveillance coverage of incidents or potential incidents at premises once notified via radio
• Proactive communication with bars and retailers via radio system when known offenders have been identified via CCTV
• Assisting in the monitoring of identified shoplifters through CCTV surveillance when made aware via radio system
• Assisting in the tackling minor street offences and anti social behaviour
There are currently 50 Pubs/retailers within the schemes and we have communication with all within the BID boundary area There are 21 multi functional operators who control and monitor this service 24/7 working on a shift rota bases. The operators are trained to the national standard for the operation of Public Space Surveillance CCTV and have attended an accredited CCTV Operators course
Specification / Digital DMR & TETRA radio with multiple interface via attendant routers
Performance measure / We monitor usage via operators performance and will link alerts with CCTV requests. We regularly attend Safe and Sound meetings and also the Safer Business Scheme meetings
Non-compliance procedure / The Borough Operations Centre have a maintenance contract in place to ensure that the lost of radio connection is covered. Where the lost of connection is outside of our control (i.e. radio at one of the establishments) this is reported to Town Centre management.
Existing value of contract / service / There is an annual maintenance contract in place for equipment installed at the Borough Operations Centre and this is currently paid for by the Borough of Poole at an annual cost of £1665.00. The above is based on current arrangements but owing to austerity measures and uncertainties over local authority funding this may change over the 5 year lifespan of a BID
