Thank you for booking Howsham Mill and island for your event. In order to make sure that your event goes as smoothly as possible, please make sure that the following conditions are adhered to:

  • Planning – please send us a short plan of what you expect will happen at your event. Please do this at least two weeks before your event. We would like to know approximate timings, numbers of people, and a rough itinerary. You will be expected to liaise with the responsible person from the Renewable Heritage Trust.
  • Risk Assessment – please complete a risk assessment for your event/activity. We can provide you with our generic site risk assessments and would be happy to help you complete your own if you need help. We would like to see a copy of your risk assessment at least 2 weeks before your event.
  • Insurance – Howsham Mill has public liability insurance for all visitors to the mill and island. Depending on your activity and group, you may need additional insurance. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are adequately insured to lead your event.

  • Supervision of children – if your event involves children that are not accompanied by their parents / guardians, you must make sure that children are adequately supervised by adults who have the required DBS check ( Supervision of children should be covered in your risk assessment.
