CHECK-IN

Registration will occur at the pavilion located on the field trial grounds. Units should submit their completed rosters and any outstanding money owed at that time. Check-in time is 6:00 – 8:00pm on Friday. No unit should arrive before 5:00 pm Friday. Pre-registration is essential to help us prepare for your arrival.

CHECK-OUT

Commissioners will complete check-out and site inspection. Upon satisfactory inspection, an adult leader may bring the check-out form to the registration area to receive patches. Units who wish to depart before Sunday 10:00 am check-out should inform camporee staff at registration.

SPL & ADULT LEADERS MEETING AND CRACKER-BARREL

A SPL and Adult leaders meeting and cracker-barrel will be held Friday nightat the Camporee Headquarters area immediately following the Cardboard Derby. Bring something to share for the Cracker-Barrel! (bologna, cheese, crackers…)

PARKING

All vehicles may only be parked in the designated areas. Parking is limited- units must bring as few vehicles as possible. Parking will be strictly enforced.

EQUIPMENT

Patrol and troop equipment should be consolidated into one vehicle for transfer to the camping area. Only one vehicle at a time per unit will be allowed the camping area. Vehicles should be unloaded as quickly as possible and moved to designated parking area.

CAMPFIRES

No ground fires are permitted. Barrel stoves must be elevated off of the ground. Each unit is responsible for bringing their own stoves and wood. There will be NO firewood at the Camporee. No chainsaws are permitted. Fire safety will be strictly enforced along with Leave No Trace practices.

SECURITY

Only registered Scouts and Scout Leaders will be permitted to attend the camporee. Anyone visiting the camporee must check-in at the registration area for everyone’s safety.

REST ROOMS

Portable toilets will be available at the camporee. These are the only facilities available to the camporee participants. Please be respectful to those that will use the facilities after you. Leave the facilities as you would like to find them. Units will be held financially responsible for damage caused by their participants.

TRASH

You brought it in – you take it out!! We encourage you to use reusable items and to recycle items when you return home. “Leave No Trace”

BEHAVIOR

All Scouts, Leaders and guests should conduct themselves according to the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Remember we are guests of the Antrim Township Community Park and we must leave this campsite better then we found it.

TOBACCO/SMOKING

Adults should refrain from smoking or using tobacco products in the presence of or near any Scouts. Any youth Scout caught smoking or using tobacco products will be asked to leave.

FIRST AID STATION

A first aid station will be manned by qualified personnel for the duration of the Camporee.

WEATHER

Please be prepared to deal with cold and wet conditions that may exist at the Camporee.

PRE-REGISTRATION

All units should pre-registered to attend the Camporee.

Please register by January 6, 2014. All participants should be registered by that date. There will be no refunds for no shows.

CAMPSITES

Campsites will be first-come first-served basis. No Camping trailers will be permitted. You may bring equipment trailers which will need to be unloaded and moved to the parking area. Camporee staff will be on hand to direct traffic and answer your questions. Please follow their instructions. Remember a Scout is obedient.

LIGHTS OUT

A Scout is courteous! All Scouts should be ready for bed at the designated times. Leaders are asked to enforce quiet time after lights out.

PATCHES

Each participant will receive one camporee themed patch.

TRADING POST

We will have a Trading Post set up at the Camporee on Saturday only. We will offer patches, knives, knit hats, and Scout and camping equipment for sale.

The only rule for patch trading is adults trade with adults and youths trade with youths

RELIGIOUS SERVICES

A non denominational worship service will be held at the camporee.

“RED FLANNEL” AWARD

There will be a cold weather camping award that Scouts will be able to earn that we intend to pilot at theCamporee. SPLs and Scoutmasters will receive an award tracking sheet at the leaders meeting Friday night.

WHITETAIL SHUTTLE

We have arranged for Bus Service to shuttle Scouts between the campsite and Whitetail Mountain. Please utilize the service to keep congestion low at the campsite and Whitetail. The service will leave the campsite and Whitetail only at appointed program time at Whitetail.

CARDBOARD SLED DERBY

Each Troop will be allowed one entry in the cardboard sled derby, to be held on Friday night at 8:30 pm at Whitetail. The sled must be constructed prior to arrival at the camporee, and should be large enough to carry two Scouts. The Scouts riding the sled must have a signed waiver/release, and must be the same two throughout the race and finals. There will be prizes for best design and fastest sleds. ONLY CARDBOARD, TAPE, GLUE, AND PAINT ARE ALLOWED IN SLED CONSTRUCTION. NO METAL FASTENERS, WOOD, OR PLASTIC OF ANY KIND IS PERMITTED. All sleds must be inspected by Whitetail and the Camporee Chairman (or designee) -- safety concerns may disqualify the entry. There is no entry fee for the race.

SKIING/SNOWBOARDING

There will be skiing and snowboarding offered by Whitetail Mountain. Whitetail is offering a “learn to ski” package which includes rental, instruction, and lift ticket for $39.00 (This is a significant discount as Whitetail offers this package normally for $94.00). An all-mountain pass will be available for more advanced skier. Tubing will be available for Scouts for $21.00for a two-hour pass, or $18 for a one-hour pass on Friday, and $27 for a two-hour pass on Saturday.Any Scout interested in purchasing these packages must do so Friday night at the camporee site or the designated Scout table at Group Sales at Whitetail. ALL SCOUTS PARTICIPATING MUST HAVE A LIABILITY WAIVER SIGNED BY THEIR PARENTS OR GUARDIAN.

WHAT? YOU DON’T WANT TO SPEND TIME ON THE HILL? THERE’S THINGS TO DO FOR YOU, TOO!

No Scout should feel obliged go skiing or tubing if they don’t want to. Don’t Worry! We will have plenty of things to do at the campsite and Whitetail if you don’t want to ski, board, or sled on the hill. We will be having many traditional “Klondike” activities.

TOURS OF WHITETAIL OPERATIONS

Scouts not wishing to participate in snow sports activities may participate in a tour of Whitetail operations. Ever wanted to know how they groom the snow hill or make snow? How about learning about a career in Mountain operations? These tours will give participants the necessary background they will need to complete their snow sports merit badge.

SNOW SCULPTURE CONTEST

Each troop will also be invited to participate in a snow sculpture contest on the Mountain! There will be some valuable prizes for the winners!!

DID WE SAY THAT WERE GOING TO MAKE SNOW?

We will also have a number of snow-related activities, including --weather permitting -- snow making at the campsite! Scouts will get to help make snow! Fancy that, snow at a winter camporee! If our conditions cooperate, we intend to teach Scouts how to make igloos, play our own version of broom ball, and many other things!

WEBELOS/CUB SCOUTS

Webelos and Cub Scout Dens are invited to visit the camporee, as always, but are not allowed to stay overnight.
