Percent for Art Commission –St. Brendan’s N.S., Blennerville invite submissions for a Sculpture piece (fixed, permanent),an external sculptural work that is child friendly, functional (for example a weather shelter), tactile and visually exciting.
Blennerville is a small village adjacent to the sea and overlooks Tralee bay which has a wealth of marine life, flora, fauna and a marine tradition that goes back to St. Brendan the navigator, Patron Saint of the school. The school crest echoes one of the most remarkable visual features in the village which is the Blennerville windmill.

Location information:
The site for the sculpture work is the hard surface area surrounding the school which is used as a playground. We suggest a location within the street facing area of the playground, which has most visibility from the road. Consideration should be given to the adverse weather conditions, namely the strong westerly wind that affects the site.Note – installation of the sculptural piece must take place during a school closure.
The location has the following advantages:
- Visible to traffic and pedestrians on the Tralee/ Dingle road.
- The school is located in an urbanised setting, with residential development in close proximity.
