A reminder that the parents/carers of children going into Nursery or Reception in September are invited to an Information sharing evening on Wednesday 1st July at 6.00 p.m. in the main school hall. This is a chance for parents to meet Miss Griffiths and Mrs Swarbrick and ask any questions they may have. It will also be an opportunity to purchase school uniform for your child and taste samples from the school dinner menu. Please return your pro-forma to confirm your attendance by Monday next week.

Class SFG Visit to Blue Planet Aquarium

As you are aware, we are planning a visit for pupils in Class SFG to Blue Planet Aquarium on Wednesday 1st July 2015. We plan to leave at 9.15 a.m. promptly so please ensure your child is punctual and we will be returning before 3pm. All pupils will therefore require a packed lunch (no glass bottles please). Those children currently eligible for a free meal will be provided with a packed lunch from school. The children should be smartly dressed in full school uniform. Please keep an eye on the weather forecast for guidance as to whether sun hats, sun cream and coats are needed. We are asking for £11.50 per pupil to help towards the cost of this trip and on this occasion we will not be visiting the gift shop but Goody Bags are available for £2.00. If you have not already done so please send in your contribution on Monday.

Nursery Stay for Lunch

As you are aware, our school cook, has offered to cook a school dinner for this year’s Nursery children on Thursday 2nd July. This will mean that they can meet the mid-day supervisors and try a school dinner. The meal will be ready for them at 11.45 a.m. and you may pick up your child at 12.15 p.m. on that day, if they remain to try the dinner. Pick up from the back of the school hall door in Early Years play area please.

The cost of the meal will be £2.15, payable in advance and if you would like your child to stay, please send in payment on Monday next week.

Class AT Assembly

International Week – Monday 6th - Friday 10th July

A reminder that our International Week begins on Monday 6th July and each class will be focusing on a country:-

Class AS - Wales

Class SG – Scotland

Class SFG (Mrs Glover) – Kenya

Class PH – Ecuador

Class RE – USA

Class JL – Mexico

We have a wide range of activities and visitors planned for this week and to conclude the celebrations; on Friday 10th July all the children are asked to dress in ANY International Costume (this does not have to be from the country they are studying). On this day there will also be a parents' open afternoon from 2.00 p.m. until onwards in the school hall. This will be an opportunity to see some of the work that the children have completed during the week.

Meet the Teacher

On the 6th July at 6.00 p.m. we will be holding a “Meet The Teacher” information evening, where parents/carers will have the opportunity to informally meet your child’s class teacher for September 2015.

You will be able to discuss the exciting topics we have planned for, the new resources we are using and the expectations of the new curriculum and national tests.

Also during the evening, there will be a presentation from Mrs Nerys Bennion who is our Healthy Schools and Pre-School Officer. She will be discussing Wrexham’s Policy on the teaching of “Personal Development and Relationships” that as a school we have adopted. You will have the opportunity to discuss any issues you feel about this with her at the time. There will also be an information booklet available for all parents/carers to take away to read and to consider further. You do have the right to withdraw your child from these planned sessions, and we would ask for this in writing to Mrs Magee, our Headteacher.

Annual Reports

All the children will be bringing home a copy of their Annual Report on Friday 3rd July. As I am sure you will understand, due to unforeseen circumstances, the children in Nursery (Mrs Swarbrick’s class) will not be bringing their reports home until the later date of Friday 10th July.

Questionnaires

We recently sent out some blue questionnaires requesting parental views of the school. We would welcome all feedback and would request that all completed questionnaires be returned to school next Monday please.

School Meal Prices Increase

The cost of school meals will be £2.20 per day/£11.00 per week for Infants and £2.25 per day /£11.25 per week for juniors. As the administration of dinner money takes so much time, may I remind parents that it should be paid on a MONDAY MORNING ONLY AND IN ADVANCE FOR THE WEEK. Please put the money in an envelope, marked with your child’s name, class, days on which dinner is required and the amount enclosed.
