AAIE ERNEST MANNINO SCHOLARSHIP
The Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) is pleased to announce the availability of a $2,500 scholarship to be awarded by AAIE in honor of Dr. Ernest Mannino, the retired Director of the Office of Overseas Schools of the U.S. Department of State and one of the founding fathers of AAIE.
It is planned that the AAIE – Ernest Mannino Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduate student doing research that has implications for American schools overseas.
Interested parties should either contact the AAIE office or continue to fill in the application below.

This scholarship was created to provide incentive, honor, and financial assistance to an outstanding graduate student whose research has implications for American/international schools overseas.Please submit one (1) original and three (3) photocopies of this application and the requested documents under Sections 1 and 3 to:

A. DECLARATION OF MISSION
Submit two (2) statements, together totaling not more than two (2) single spaced, typewritten pages, as follows, providing one (1) original and three (3) photocopies:
1. a statement of how you became interested in American/international schools overseas and what you consider to be unique about such schools; and
2. a statement describing your research, including the area to be researched and how it has implications for American/international schools overseas. Include a timeline for completion of the research.
B. SIGNATURE
It is my understanding that this scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student who is conducting research with implications for American/international schools oversees. If my application is accepted, I agree to submit a summary of my research for publication and distribution by AAIE.

C. LETTER OF ENDORSEMENT
Submit a letter of endorsement, providing one (1) original and three (3) photocopies, from a representative of each of the following categories (a total of three (3) letters):
1. an officer of an overseas school, U.S. school system, or college department in which you have most recently served;
2. the dean of the school of education, the head of the department of education, or your academic advisor in the college or university in which you intend to carry out your research (if this person has been included under item 1 above, secure a letter from a second college officer); and
3. a leading citizen, not related to you by blood or marriage, of the community in which you have spent the major part of your professional career.
