The season will begin to glow through the efforts of the Woodbury Business Association and town residents as they present a bright and festive touch with coordinated lighting along Main Street. Admire the holiday greenery, created by the Pomperaug Valley Garden Club, adorning the town buildings.

Kick off the holiday season with friends and good cheer at The Glebe House Museum’s Gala Party. Be the first to see the beautifully appointed rooms in this 1740’s historic house decked out for the holidays and have the opportunity to purchase tasteful ornamentations for your home. Guests will have a wonderful opportunity to wrap up holiday shopping at the silent auction, presented in the cottage annex. Wine and scrumptious appetizers will be served by candlelight. For the opening of the Woodbury Christmas Festival, a special a cappella musical collaboration is offered from the Valley Chordsmen and Femina Melodia choruses. The Chordsmen, directed by Reuben Barnes, have been entertaining the Waterbury area since 1947, singing old and new songs in the barbershop style. Femina Melodia, founded by director Jan Gregory, is a chorus of talented women who have been offering a concert of varied repertoire for 15 years.

The Cub Scouts will conduct their annual wreath sale and toy drive on the North Green. We will have fresh balsam fir wreaths in 12” (22’ outside diameter) and 16” (26” outside diameter) decorated with your choice of red or burgundy bow. We thank you for years of community support.

The 10th Annual Festival of Wreaths will take place at the Woodbury Middle School in conjunction with the Christmas Craft Fair. Businesses and individuals decorate a wreath for a silent auction. Proceeds of the auction will benefit the Woodbury Community Services Food and Fuel Bank.

The Woodbury Junior Women’s Club plans for Santa’s arrival via fire truck bearing gifts for children of all ages. Bring your camera for a memorable picture with Santa. Refreshments will be served.
NONNEWAUG HIGH SCHOOL

The Woodbury FFA Chapter will host visitors to the Ellis Clark Regional Agriscience Center. The annual holiday plant sale will showcase poinsettias, wreaths, cemetery pots, Yule logs, and other decorative items for the holiday. Students will be available to help customers select items and prepare plants with holiday foil and sleeves in order to protect them during transport. Santa will be available to greet children and have pictures taken from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
The Agriscience Center will also host a pet adoption from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. There are many dogs and cats that need a good home. Please consider sharing your family with a special companion. Adopt.

Experience the life of a Woodbury family during the Revolutionary War as the Marshall family, who lived here, prepare for the holidays. The museum will be decorated with holiday trees, swags, and many unique, one-of-a-kind decorations that may be purchased. Costumed docents will guide visitors through the downstairs of the house as young docents make pomander balls and string apples to dry over the hearth. Admission is by donation.

Focus on Christmas of yesteryear. Docents in period costumes will provide tours of the Hurd House with its glowing open hearth fireplace. The house was built in 1680, and it is the oldest house on its original site in Litchfield County. Also, visit the District 2 one-room schoolhouse. Each location will provide a glimpse of our rich holiday heritage through period decorating.

Santa will set the new town Christmas tree aglow. The middle and high school bands will entertain those awaiting Santa’s arrival, and members of the high school chorus will lead the caroling.
As we celebrate the 32nd Annual Woodbury Christmas Festival, we take great pride in our coordinated presentation of community spirit. Since its inception in 1985, our local churches, civic, youth, school, and business groups have offered residents and visitors alike a wonderful variety of events and activities that capture the spirit of the season in our beautiful town. We invite you to join us in sharing that spirit.
Our Limited Edition pewter Christmas ornament will be available for sale Saturday, December 3rd at the WJWC Craft Fair from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM at the Woodbury Middle School. We are proud to return the proceeds from the sale of these ornaments to the community. Past years’ ornaments will be available at a reduced price at the Craft Fair or by calling Norma Heaven at 203-266-9228. Canfield Corner Pharmacy, Woodbury Pewter, and the Woodbury Town Clerk’s Office will have a supply of the ornaments available beginning Saturday, December 3rd, and will continue to carry them throughout the holiday season.
