Supporting you to live independently at home

Do you have difficulties transferring to your bed, toilet, chair or bath?

Are you registered partially sighted/blind or do you have problems reading books and letters?

Are you registered hard of hearing /profoundly deaf or have difficulties hearing the doorbell, TV, radio or general conversations?

At IEDA you can explore a range of equipment that can support you to live independently at home.

What is available at IEDA?

You can access information and advice about equipment that will help you with day to day tasks. You can also see how the equipment works and try it out for yourself. It’s a chance for you to work out what equipment suits you before you commit to having it in your home.

What equipment can I try at the IEDA?

The equipment available relates to occupation therapy, sensory vision, sensory hearing and Telecare.

This includes –

• A stair lift

• Bath rails

• Bath chairs

• Tactile phones

• Raised toilet seats

• Large font telephones

• Magnifiers

• Smoke sensors

• Activity monitors

• White walking sticks

How will I know that the equipment is right for me?

Working alongside specially trained staff you will explore a range of options to make sure you are comfortable and confident with the equipment. Our staff includes:

• Occupational therapists

• Senior practitioners for hearing loss, vision loss or for multiple disabilities

• Disability employment advisors

• Information and assessment officers

How can I pay for the equipment?

If you are eligible for adult social care funding, you may be able to purchase equipment using your Personal Budget. If you are not eligible then you can still make an appointment at IEDA to make a purchase.

How can I access IEDA?

Access to IEDA is by appointment only.
