UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Scholarship and Enrichment Program

The UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program awards scholarships up to $20,000 distributed incrementally over four years of study at UNCG. In addition to scholarships, the UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program includes a variety of other benefits, including integrated seminars, networking events, community engagement opportunities, and leadership development. Fellows also live in relative proximity to one another as part of the Residential Colleges or Lloyd International Honors College. Additionally, Fellows study abroad during their sophomore year as part of the global focus of the program. To be eligible for participation in the UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Program, a student must be a North Carolina resident and should have at least a 3.80 weighted cumulative high school GPA and a minimum SAT score of 1100 (verbal and math) or ACT composite score of 24. If you meet these criteria, apply for a spot in this scholarship program by completing the UNCG Teacher Education Fellows Application. Eugene McDermott Scholars Program – University of Texas at Dallas

Amount: The McDermott Scholars Program covers all expenses of an academic education at The University of Texas at Dallas, in concert with a diverse array of intensive extracurricular experiences, including internships, travel, and cultural enrichment. Criteria: McDermott Scholars are selected on their promise of being leaders for Dallas, the United States, and the world community during the 21st century. Eligibility requirements include: 1450 or higher on the two part SAT (verbal and math); 33 or higher on the ACT; First-time college freshman; AP, IB, CLEP, and Dual-Credit acceptable; Long records of community volunteerism and leadership in school; Broad and eclectic interests in science, literature, and the arts; and Social skills to interact easily with adults as well as peers. GE- Reagan Foundation Scholarship

Amount: $10,000.00/renewable for four years. Criteria: This program annually rewards numerous college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. These candidates should demonstrate President Reagan’s vision to lead, serve, and pursue a life of progress, both individually and for their communities. Deadline: January 7, 2016. Elon University Fellows Academic & Scholarship Programs

Amount: $5,000.00 - $13,500.00/renewable Criteria: Academic and scholarship programs exist in these six challenging programs: Honors Fellows for students in any major, Elon College Fellows, Business Fellows, Communications Fellows, Teaching Fellows, and Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellows. In each of these programs, you will have exceptional learning opportunities such as: Special courses and faculty mentoring, Housing options such as a living-learning community for Fellows, paid research assistantships or internships, and scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $13,500 per year. Meredith College Teaching Fellows Program

Meredith College, an all-women’s college in Raleigh, NC, will offer this program to North Carolina students committing to a profession in teaching. The program includes several enrichment opportunities including: 2-year internships in one of the nation’s leading school systems, an honors core of 15-17 semester hours, including an honors thesis, seminars on current topics in education, and Focus on Excellence cultural and social events. Mensa Education and Research Foundation Scholarship

Mensa Foundation awards more than $87,000/year in scholarships. They are awarded on the basis of an essay that describes the applicant’s career, vocational, and/or academic goals along with information that shows how the applicant intends to achieve the stated goal. The general scholarships are unrestricted as to age, race, gender, level of education, grade point average, or financial need.An applicant does not need to be a member of Mensa, but must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident. Some scholarships may have specific restrictions, e.g., major or area of study. To be eligible for a Mensa Member scholarship, the applicant must be a current dues-paid American Mensa member or a dependent of a member; the application must include the Mensa member’s name.Eligible students are those who will be pursuing a degree program in an accredited U.S. college or university during the academic year following their application.

The SAE Engineering Scholarship(s) are intended for high school seniors who plan to earn a degree in engineering or a related science. North Carolina Hispanic College Fund

The North Carolina Society of Hispanic Professionals established this charitable fund at Triangle Community Foundation to benefit Hispanic students in North Carolina. The North Carolina Hispanic College Fund awards annual scholarships worth between $500 and $2,500. Scholarships recipients are recent graduates of North Carolina high schools who are of Hispanic/Latino background. Recipients of a NC Hispanic College Fund scholarship must enroll in a degree program at a community college or a 2 or 4 year college/university and be committed to public service and community development. To be eligible, students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA or higher; provide two letters of recommendation from a high school teacher, principal, pastor, employer, or other community leader; submit an official high school transcript; and complete a personal statement of no more than 500 words. Ronald McDonald House Charities U.S. Scholarship Program

A partnership between Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and its local Chapters opens the door to higher education for graduating high school seniors who have financial need to pay for college. Polly Holliday Theatre Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is available to provide serviced and educational programs for those individuals and organizations engaged in theatre in the southeast. KFC Colonel's REACH Educational Grant Program

KFC Colonel's REACH Educational Grant Program helps KFC restaurant hourly Team Members and Shift Supervisors pursue their educational dreams. These $2,000 grants help Team Member recipients attend accredited four-year and two-year colleges, as well as trade/vocational schools. Winners are selected via a competitive application process and may reapply each year. The scholarship opens February 1 and closes March 17, 2016.

The Shirley Rabb Winston Scholarship in Voice

In honor of Shirley Rabb Winston, an annual scholarship has been established and made available through The National Society of Arts and Letters to young vocal artists between the ages of 16 and 22. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional talent and promise of future success. The scholarship funds are only for private study, for special training or for personal advancement in the applicant’s future career. The funds are not for college tuition, housing or travel. AXA Achievement Community Scholarship

Up to 12 winners nationwide, Scholarship of $2,500. Only first 10,000 applications will be accepted so apply early! The deadline to apply is February 1, but if 10,000 applications are received before then, the system will close to new applications automatically. Crumley Roberts Founder's and Next Step Scholarships

Crumley Roberts, LLP is a law firm with offices in several NC counties. Thesetwo Crumley Roberts Scholarships will provide financial assistance to outstanding NC high school seniors who will enroll at accredited colleges or universities in the fall of 2016. The America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship Program

This scholarship provides rural students with the opportunity to earn a $1,500 scholarship to further their agricultural education. Learn more at GrowAgLeaders.com. Students must be current FFA members, apply at FFA.org/scholarships and must have three farmers endorse their application to be eligible for the Grow Ag Leaders scholarship. The Jagannathan Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to entering college freshmen on the basis of outstanding academic achievement, financial need, extracurricular activities and leadership qualities. Applicants must be admitted to a University of North Carolina institute prior to the final scholarship selection in May. Scholarship may be renewed annually. Application is due Feb. 1. In addition to application, a Financial Aid Profile of the College Scholarship Service must be completed. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee, Inc. Scholarship

Criteria: The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee, INC is a non-profit organization. The committee is delighted to offer a scholarship to a deserving high school senior who wants to enhance his/her learning and/or training aptitude to a higher level. Elon University Odyssey Scholars Program

Need-based scholarships awarded to prospective members of the Freshman Class. Students who complete the Watson and Odyssey Scholarship application will be considered for each of the following applicable scholarship opportunities: the Watson, Eure, Anonymous, Georgeo, MacMahon and Susan Scholarships. These scholarships range in value from $30,000 to $48,000 over four years and include grants up to $4,000 for global study, internships, service, research, or leadership. Auburn University Scholarships

Students accepted for admissions to Auburn University must apply for scholarships through the Auburn University Scholarship Opportunity Manager (AUSOM) by February 10 to receive consideration for freshmen and General Scholarships awarded by the Office of University Scholarships and Departmental Scholarships awarded by Auburn’s colleges and schools.

Courageous Persuaders Video Scholarship

Any students in grades 9-12 (individual or team) are eligible to enter a 30 second commercial warning middle school students about the dangers of underage drinking. More than one commercial can be submitted by one student. On the National Level $2,000 is awarded as The New York Festival Award and $1,000 USA Today Award. Commercials must be 30 seconds long or less. A work cited page must be completed along with the final product. Deadline is February 11 and winners will be announced in May. The Weddington Optimist ClubEssay Contest

This contest is sponsored by Optimist International to give young people room to develop their own views around a central idea. In addition to the opportunity for written expression, participants have the chance to win a college scholarship! At the club level, the Weddington Optimists will be awarding cash prizes of $100, $50 and $25. The District winner will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship. The contest is open to students under age 19 who have not yet graduated high school or the equivalent. Interested students must prepare a 700-800 word essay on the topic. The 2015 topic is: “Lead by Example: Reality or Fiction”. Essays must be submitted to the club no later than February 12.

Jerry McGee Endowed Scholarship

The Jerry McGee Endowed Scholarship was created in honor of Jerry McGee for his 23+ years of service as executive director of the North Carolina Athletic Directors’ Association and made possible through donations from individuals and organizations. This award is unique because it honors both male and female student-athletes who are distinguished themselves by overcoming adversity and returned to excel beyond expectations in their scholastic athletic sport(s). A $1,000 cash award to further the student athlete’s educational endeavors will be presented during the NCADA Breakfast to be held in July in Greensboro, NC to one male and one female student athlete from a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school. Charlie Adams Endowed Scholarship

The Charlie Adams Endowed Scholarship was created in honor of Charlie Adams, former Executive Director of the NCHSAA, and made possible through donations from individuals and organizations. A $1,500 award to further the student-athlete’s education will be presented at the NCHSAA Annual Meeting in May to one senior female participating on a varsity cross-country team at a NCHSAA member high school and one senior male wrestler participating on a varsity wrestling team at a NCHSAA member high school. Clary Student Medal Award

The Clary Award was created in honor of Wilburn C. Clary, former school administrator and game official, and funded by the Eddie and Jo Allison Smith Family Foundation.
