New BioSig Enhancement for Faculty
The Biometric Signature ID (BSI) Building Block for Blackboard Learn 9.1 provides a mechanism to require a studentto validate their identity when needed. This process is split between enrollments when the user first creates their initial profile, and subsequent times when they need to validate themselves.
The new BioSig buildingblock enhancement, named “intercept”, allows you to control a quiz or exam access with a click of a button. Please note that this enhancement applies to the control of quizzes or exams only.If you would like to control lessons or assignments, please refer to the instructions on “how to create a BioSig-ID instance” from the online website.
The followinginstructions show how to remove existing Bio-Sig instances and Adaptive Release rules you may previously have in your course, and how to configure the new method (intercept) for controlling quiz or exam access.
If you have created a Biosig instance in your course and would like to use the new method to control quizzes and exams, first, you will need to remove the BioSig instances (BSI) and the Adaptive Release rules.
How to Delete BioSig Instances and Adaptive Release Rules from your course
1. To remove Adaptive Release rule, locate the quiz or exam link, click the drop-down arrow and select Adaptive Release: Advanced.
2. Select all rules, and click Delete.
3. To remove BSI instance, locate BSI instance for the quiz or exam in your course. Click the drop-down arrow, and select Delete.
The BSI grade column should be removed automatically once the instance has been deleted. If you notice the column has not been removed, you can manually remove it.
4. To manually remove BSI grade columns, go to the Grade Center, locate the BSI column, click the drop-down arrow next the BSI column, and select Delete Column.
Now your quizzes and exams are ready to be controlled by the new enhancement “intercept”.
