Terms & Conditions – Hiring of Turkey Barn
Booking
- The Barn will be made available to the hirer in a clean and safe condition. Providing the hirer fulfills its obligations as set out in this agreement, East Sussex County Council will keep and maintain hirer in exclusive, quiet, peaceable and undisturbed and uninterrupted possession of the hired premises during the term of this hire.
- Any signage must be agreed with East Sussex County Council in writing two weeks prior to hiring date.
- There are a number of chairs and tables available for use as part of the hiring agreement – please ask for details when booking. The suitable setting up of chairs and tables is to be done by the hirer.
- The site has a quiet and informal recreation policy. Any excessive noise resulting in complaints from site businesses will result in the closure of the function and the forfeit of any monies and deposit paid.
- If the Barn is to be used for a display or exhibition, please note that all items and pictures are placed at the owner’s risk. Items must be displayed on a free standing basis. There is a picture rail around the room which can be used for displaying photographs or small works of art.
- Any cancellations made within 10 working days of the hiring date will result in a charge equal to 50% of the hiring fee. Cancellations made within 5 working days of the hiring date will result in the retention of 100% of the fee.
- Failure to leave the Barn in a clean condition and working order will result in the retention of the hiring deposit

Payment and times-Payment should be returned with the booking form, and cheques made payable to ‘East Sussex County Council’. All fees are exclusive of VAT.

The barn must be left clean and tidy.
A returnable deposit of £20 is required for all bookings of the Turkey Barn. This is payable by cheque or cash and will be retained during the length of the booking and returned only after the room has been inspected. If the room is found to be unclean or there is any damage then some or all of the deposit will be kept by East Sussex County Council.
Car parking–all car parking must be in the public car parks and all users are to pay the associated parking fees. There is to be no parking in the staff car park behind the Barn.
Catering - If external catering is to be provided, we suggest in the first instance that you contact the Saltmarsh Farmhouse Restaurant who are based next door If using an alternative caterer, arrangements for parking vehicles, storing/ serving food, unloading goods etc must be made and agreed with East Sussex County Council in writing two weeks before the date of hire. Failure to comply will result in the retention of the deposit.
Please note that the Barn is not licensed, so there must be no sales of alcohol or tickets for any events held on the premises. This includes raffles and tombolas.
Safety - No naked flames (such as candles, flares, barbecues) must be used within the Barn or its footprint. This is to comply with fire regulations and insurance requirements.
Vehicular access for deliveries to all areas outside/ around the Barn must be for loading and unloading only, and must be before 10am and after 4pm only.
