Pathway Description: (Marketing Principles, Intro to Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Advanced Sports and Entertainment Marketing)

In this pathway, students develop an understanding of the processes involved from the creation to the consumption of products/services as they relate to the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Professions. Students develop an understanding of and skills needed in the areas of distribution, marketing-information management, market planning, pricing, product/service management, promotion, and selling related to the Sports and Entertainment Industries. Students will develop an understanding of marketing functions applications and impact on Sports and Entertainment operations. Mathematics and social studies are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate include cooperative education, entrepreneurship, internship, mentorship, school-based enterprise, service learning, and job shadowing.

Studentsare highly encouragedto participate in DECA. DECA competitive events are directly aligned with course standards. Additionally, DECA (an association for Marketing Education students) community service and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences. Grading

Richmond County School System Grading:

A = 90% - 100%

B = 80% - 89%

C = 75% - 79%

D = 70% - 74%

F = 0% - 69%

Courseweights are as follows:

Classwork (25%) – Successful completion of in-class activities, bell ringers, tickets out the door, and each layer of the layer assignment sheets.

Class Participation (20%). (CTAE STANDARDS 1 AND 2 SOFT SKILLS – Follow all rules and procedures, keep an organized notebook/binder, weekly current events, submit timely work and participate in all team and individual activities.

Project Work (25%) – Various projects activities to test understanding; most to be completed during class.

Benchmark Quizzes (10%) and Tests (20%) – Assessments to test concept understanding.

Organization is important to be successful in college and in the business world. It will also help you tosucceed in this class.

Three-ring binder or folder to keep all assignments

  • At least 5 notebook dividers/tabs

Blue or black ink pen or pencil

  • Loose Leaf Notebook Paper

Friendly Reminders:

Students are responsible for all work missed. Parents may request that assignments be sent home if the student will be absent for an extended period of time. This work will be left in the front office or sent via e-mail to a valid e-mail address.

Follow Dress Code as stated in the RCBOE Code of Conduct.

You are tardy if you are not in your seat when the tardy bell rings.

Never throw handouts, notes, and returned work away!

Label all assignments with the proper headerin the upper right of your paper. This includes name, date, and period.

Configurations on the computersare not to be changed. This includes screen savers, settings, background, appearance or any changes to the desktop.

Workstations and tables should be kept clean.

Any form of cheating will result in a 0% on the assignment.

NO CELL PHONES unless given permission according to the RCSS BYOT policy.

RCBOE Code of Conduct will be enforced in class and at school.
