Medical Staff Services Coordinator – Borgess Medical Center

The Medical Staff Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the health system credentialing and privileging process is completed in accordance with established regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies, Medical Staff Bylaws and health system bylaws/policies for the initial, renewal, and augmentation of applicants requesting membership and/or clinical privileges. The Coordinators will support the Medical Staff Services Department’s administrative functions as it relates to the overall mission of Borgess health system. This role works closely with Medical Staff Leadership to ensure continuity in the credentialing and privileging process. The Coordinator also provides administrative support for the office at the discretion of the Director/Manager, Medical Staff Services.

Qualifications:

  • Background of progressively responsible administrative experience in a fast-paced environment requiring talent in multi-tasking, high level detail-orientation and superior customer service. Experience in composing original and detailed correspondence, minutes, and complex reports; and ability to oversee maintenance of accurate record keeping in multiple filing systems.
  • Ability/aptitude to interpret and process Medical Staff applications and re-applications, including all correspondence and documentation needed to complete this task.
  • Bachelor’s degree completed or currently in process in health care, business or a related area strongly preferred.
  • Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred or willing to complete within two years of hire.
  • Experience with computerized credentialing programs, such as Cactus, preferred.
  • Approximately 2-4 years progressively more responsible related business office experience necessary in order to gain in-depth understanding of Medical Staff policies, procedures and operations and a variety of high level administrative details including arranging meetings and conference without prior clearance, answering correspondence, assembling highly confidential and sensitive information, and answering questions of influential callers.
