Statutory Notice – Further and Higher Education Act – Section 33N

This notice is given by the Corporation of Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College in accordance with The Sixth Form College Corporations (Publication of Proposals) (England) Regulations 2012 No. 1158.

Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College hereby gives notice in accordance with the provisions of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 (the Act) of the proposal that Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College (Church Walk, Guisborough TS14 6BU), be dissolved and the property, rights, assets and liabilities of the Corporation be transferred to a newly incorporated Multi Academy Trust, to be known as Tees Valley Collaborative Trustwith registered address at Church Walk, Guisborough TS14 6BU.

Dissolution of Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College is proposed at the request of the Corporation in order that Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College, a sixth form college, can be replaced with Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College, a 16-19 Academy. This Academy will be part of the Tees Valley Collaborative Trust.

Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College provides post-16 education including a wide range of A Level and BTEC qualifications to students across the Tees Valley. Many of the programmes are centred on meeting regional skills needs in areas such as STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), health and social care, creative technologies, business and accounting. The College also offers Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications, including English and Mathematics GCSE courses, which enable young people to gain additional qualifications, access work experience opportunities and boost employability. In addition the College delivers qualifications to adults, including Access to HE.

The current number of full-time students is 1788, the number of part-time students is 370(37 FTE) and the total number of students is 2158 (1825 FTE).

Estimated learner numbers for the proposed new 16-19 Academy on 1 September 2017 are set out below:

The date proposed for dissolution of the Corporation of Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College as a sixth form college and the creation of Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College as a 16-19 academy is 1st September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter subject to the appropriate permissions. All students currently attending Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College will continue their education within the 16-19 academy maintained by the Multi Academy Trust as currently planned.
