College Cadre Heritage Scholarship
Application Information Sheet
The College Cadre Heritage Scholarship was established in 2014 by the Shrine of the Black Madonna of the Pan African Orthodox Christian Church at the fortieth anniversary celebration of the Atlanta College Cadre. The scholarship’s mission is to identify service-minded youth, and to provide them with financial assistance, support and encouragement towards achieving their goals and aspirations. Our church has benefitted substantially from the contributions of HBCU students and alumnae. Hence, the Scholarship is specifically geared towards high school graduates planning to attend a Historically Black College or University and an incoming freshman.
College Cadre Heritage Scholarships are awarded to students who share our church’s vision of excellence in education, leadership and service, and desire to make the community a better place for our people. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement and exhibit leadership potential through community service.
The attached application will be used to consider applicants for the scholarship. Each applicant is required to submit an essay. The amount awarded per scholarship is dependent on our fundraising efforts.
All scholarship applications, attachments and essay must be received by Wednesday, June 12, 2016, by 5:00 p.m., at the Shrine of the Black Madonna Bookstore and Cultural Center, 944 Ralph D. Abernathy Blvd., Atlanta, Ga. 30310. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
The Scholarship Committee will notify the scholarship recipients by July 1, 2016. Each recipient is expected to attend a scholarship recognition banquet in July 2016 during which the scholarship will be awarded.
