Katha T. Parrish Memorial Scholarship Fund

Rules and Requirements:

The Katha T. Parrish Memorial Scholarship is awarded for the Spring and Fall semesters. Funds awarded may be used for tuitions, books, lab fees, or other expenses directly related to completing studies related to the fire department or emergency medical services degrees or certificates. And individual may be awarded this scholarship for a maximum of eight (8) semesters.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Enrolled in a fire department or emergency medical service field of study.
  2. Member of a Prince George’s County volunteer fire department or auxiliary for three (3) months.
  3. Maryland resident for at least the prior year.
  4. Maintain a grade point average of 2.0.

Application Requirements:

  1. Application completed and signed by the applicant.
  2. Written recommendation from applicant’s fire department or auxiliary.
  3. Statement of applicant’s career objective. (At least one paragraph that explains the career goal of the applicant and how she/he expects to attain the goal.)
  4. Copy of grades or transcript from previous semester.

Applications for Fall Semester are due August 15th.

Applications for Spring Semester are due February 15th.

More than one (1) awarded may be made in each semester. Awards will be announced at the meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association in September and March of each year. Recipients are encouraged to be present at the meeting to accept their awards.
