Step 1: Create Project Site from Template

Go to https://sharepoint.buffalostate.edu and click the Login hyperlink.
Go to Projects → Project Sites
Go to Site Actions→ New Site.
Under All Categories, click Blank & Custom→ Project Status Site Template →Enter project Title, URL Name and click the More Options button.
Under Navigation Inheritance click Yes and Create.
Your project site has been created.

Step 2: Create Project Status Site (w/ icons)

In this step we will Add new item and link it to your project site created on step 1. This step will create a PKID which is needed for step 3.
Requirement(s): Project Site URL
Go to Projects → Project Dashboard → Add new item
A Project Dashboard Form will open. Complete the form as much as possible, Save and Close.
NOTE: If you created the Project Site in the right location the “Project Site URL” should look something like this: https://sharepoint.buffalostate.edu/Projects/sites/mynewsite. You can copy and paste this link and replace <mynewsite to whatever you named your project site.
You Project Status site have been created!
To make sure everything went well let’s test it out. Click on the project hyperlink (URL) and it should look similar to the screenshot below.
NOTE: If for some reason your project site looks different you will need to ensure the PATH on the Project Site URL field is correct. You can do this by going to Projects -> Project Views -> All -> Edit Item.

Step 3: Edit Project Site & change PKID

Requirement(s): Status Site PKID
To get PKID go to Projects → Project Views → All
Copy or make a mental notation of this ID. The PKID below was created on Step 2.
Go to Projects → Project Dashboard → find and Double click on your project title.
Your Project Site should look something like the screenshot shown below.
Move the mouse over to the right somewhere above the letter `S`. Click “Edit Web Part”.
Find the Query String (URL) Filter title and move the mouse over to the right until you see the down arrow. Click Edit Web Part
Under Query String (URL) Filter window on the right change the Default Value 3 to your PKID. In our case we will change the PKID 3 to 47. Click Apply → OK.
The screenshot below shows the end result.
Lastly we need to update the “Project Status Template” title to reflect your Project site.
Go to Site Actions → Edit Page
Rename the “Project Status Template” by clicking on the text.
To save changes click the Page tab and ‘Stop Editing’
The Project Site should have a new title.
