PE and Sport Premium for 2017-18
Department for Education Vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium: To ensure all pupils leaving primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
Our aim: To ensure that children at John Stainer have access to a broad and balanced curriculum. To increase children’s engagement and attainment through the delivery of quality PE lessons.

PE subject leader and external advisor to deliver an INSET to staff based on the new scheme of work. / £1224.28 / Teachers will teach lessons aligned to the PE National Curriculum and Ofsted requirements.
To increase the number of competitions and clubs that are accessible to children. / Sports coaches to deliver a variety of sports clubs before and after school – football, basketball, tag rugby and athletics. / Salary - coaches and Clubs

At least 1 Pupil Premium pupil from each class to access after school sports club.
Pupils to take part in tournaments and sporting events in group of schools in SELECT.
To ensure quality resources are available to improve and sustain the teaching of PE and games lessons. / PE leader to purchase/top up PE equipment e.g tennis balls, footballs, netballs, rugby balls, tennis rackets, hockey sticks, ball storage bags, marker cones. / £280 / Increased hand-eye coordination amongst EYFS, KS1 and those who need to develop fundamental skills.
Our established football team will be able to train effectively.
Provision of leadership time for PE leader. / Monitor the planning and teaching of PE throughout school.
Organise and run whole school sports day.
Organise available extra-curricular sporting opportunities for relevant year groups. / £700 / Increase enjoyment, engagement and participation in PE/Games.
Increase numbers in participation especially pupils who are less active and lack confidence.
Pupils are inspired by outside sporting clubs, coaches and agencies – exposure to role models and new sporting venues.
Staffing costs to attend competitions / To enable the school to attend competitions and also cover lessons for teacher who is attending sports events. / £1350 / There will be an increase in participation and a reduction in inactivity.
To fund the delivery of INPP exercises to SEND children. / Teaching assistant to deliver INPP exercises to SEN children each morning. / £1055 / Pupils’ balance, coordination and self-awareness will be developed.
To subsidise our swimming provision for year 3 and 4 children for 2 terms. / To develop children’s listening and speaking skills through narrative PE games. / £12,432 / Pupils will be able to swim unaided for a sustained period of time over a distance of at least 25 metres.
Pupils will be able to use a range of recognised stroke and personal survival skills (such as front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, sculling, floating and surface dives)
