Job Purpose
1. To increase Swimming participation Levels, through effective co-ordination of swimming related activities i.e. Learn to Swim Scheme.
2. To ensure that performance targets are met in line with the corporate objectives, maintaining viability of all related aquatic provisions.
3. Toline manage and monitor an effective work force of Swimming Teachers and Aquatic Deliverers.
4. Enforce the standards and expectations of the ‘Everybody SWIM’ brand.
Main duties
-Grow and developthe ‘Everybody SWIM’ Learn to Swim Programme, deliveringthe ASA National Teaching Plan for all stages. Working towards Swim 21 accreditation.
-Co-ordinate and administer the ‘Everybody SWIM’ Learn to Swim Scheme utilising a suite of KPI’s. Meeting set targets in relation to the LTSS performance whilst producing monthly performance reports.
-Ensure all provisions are delivered safely and effectively in line with the governing body’s guidance and best practice.
-Act as first line of response for all related customer feedback within specified site.
-Responsible for the effective line management of Swimming Teachers and other related Aquatic deliverers, Including Aquatic Volunteers. Ensuring that ROTA’s are maintained effectively.
-Support in the recruitment, training, development and assessment of swimming teachers (including lesson observations).
-Supervise, mentor and direct staff, support staff, volunteers, apprentices and sports leaders where appropriate.
-Play an active role within the delivery of the ‘Everybody SWIM’ Learn to Swim Scheme, covering lessons when holidays and sicknesses require.
-Generate relationships with local schools, promoting partnerships and Co-ordinating the Educational Programme.
-Co-ordinate,develop and assist with the delivery of a comprehensive swimming teacher education programme which includes continuous professional development in line with ASA/STA recommendations.
-Prepare course information for Swimming Instructors, incorporating registers, lessons plans NTP target sheet and ASA records of individual progress.

-Prepare and update teaching plans in accordance with ASA guidance to ensure compliance with ASA advice.

-Arrange and co-ordinate Learn to swim course information in liaison with pools staff and Marketing to ensure effective implementation.
-Develop other pool based opportunities (e.g. Masters Swimming, Water Polo, Disabled Swimming Clubs, Adult and Toddler sessions, Water Fitness sessions and NPLQ/STA qualifications etc.) attracting external funding for targeted groups to ensure financial viability of programmes.
-Support the introduction of new programmes and activities at pools designed to increase participation by non-traditional user groups in liaison with sports, health development and the ASA.
-Support pool managers, schools and swimming clubs with their activity programming, in liaison with the Aquatics Manager and ASA so that facilities are fully utilised.
-Manage and support in the use of OnCourse (Swim Lesson Management SoftwareSystem), ensuring it is utilised effectively, addressing any related issues or plan problems.
Notwithstanding the detail in this job description, in accordance with the ESAR Flexibility Policy the job holder will undertake such work as may be determined by the Aquatics Manager from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the Principal Responsibilities of the job.
