What Would You Tell Christ?
Some day we will all stand before the judgment seat of God and give account of all the things we have done (2 Cor. 5:10). Suppose He (Christ) would ask you, “Why were you not faithful in attendance at my services?” How would you answer Him: “I had guest for the day?” I had to catch up on some work.” Sunday is my only day off” “I was just too tired.” “The family had not been to the beach in a long time.” “The children had an event planned on Sunday.” “Some old friends came by at the last minute.” “Sometimes I just don’t get anything out of worship.” “I just don’t feel I need to go all the time.”
Do these excuses sound familiar? These are the excuses given all the time for not attending the services of the Lord’s Church. What is your excuse?
Some reminders of your influence on others when you are absent from the assemblies. Those who are closest to you will take notice of how important worship is to you and it will have a great impact on their view of service to the Lord. This may include your family, friends, spouse, and your children. When it is time for the assemblies of the church and you are at home, both your neighbors and community notice where you are not, worship! This will leave your neighbors and community with a picture of Christians love and devotion for worship.
What then would you tell Christ if He were to return during the worship times, and He found you not there? Remember it is God who has commanded us “to not forsake the assembly” Jesus said, “If you love me keep my commandments (Jn. 14:15), and to, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness… (Mt. 6:33).” What would you tell Christ? What would He tell you?
