Region 3 DPI Regional Roundtable Meetings

  1. Jim Coon called the meeting to order at 9:00 am.
  1. Jim Coon recorded the names of those who attended the Roundtable on the electronic attendance document.
  1. Jim Coon notified the team that starting in August 2014 the Roundtable Meetings will be moved to the 3rd Friday of each month. He agreed to send an email message to all members with these new dates.
  1. Jim Coon introduced Dr. Lisa L. Martin, the new Superintendent of Franklin County to the Roundtable. After Roundtable members introduced themselves, she spent @ 25 minutes discussing her vision and challenges within Franklin County. Then, several partnerships were discussed that would allow NCDPI to assist Franklin County in facing several of the challenges mentioned. Jim Coon will summarize these partnership ideas and then form a team to meet with Dr. Martin in Franklin County.
  1. Mary Russell, and her Summer Institute Team, reported on progress toward the hosting of the Summer Institute 2014 in Region 3. Roundtable members were asked to visit the Region 3 Summer Institute 2014 WIKI site to sign up to facilitate the “Facilitated Team” and “Job-alike” sessions at the Institute. Jim Coon explained that all Roundtable members were expected to be available to assist Region 1 at their institute on July 7-8, 2014 and to work the Region 3 Summer Institute on July 9-10, 2014.
  1. Bill McNeil reported on his Keynote Address to the NCASA convention in March 2014 which was a “Support Public Education” theme for the positive progress we have made over the years.
  1. Neil Pedersen updated Roundtable members on his future vision for the CCRESA, especially after RttT funds expire at the end of 2014-2015.
  1. Region 3 RttT District Model (District Transformation) Coaches provided reports on the progress of their LEAs and several partnerships were formed to help address various LEA issues. The following tem members reported:
