Dear Applicant,

The College of Engineering and Applied Science and the Multicultural Office for Student Access, Inclusiveness and Community (MOSAIC) invite proposals for funding from the Colorado Alliance for Minority Participation (CO-AMP) program.

What is CO-AMP?

CO-AMP is an innovative consortium of fourteen community colleges and four-year institutions and four Native American tribes in Colorado and the Four Corners region. The Alliance's mission is to double the number of historically and currently under-represented Native American, African American, Hispanic, Pacific Islander and Alaska Native students earning bachelor's degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). CO-AMP fills a critical gap by delivering programs to underrepresented students in STEM fields and has become an academic leader in Colorado for coordinated efforts in minority STEM education programming.

Who is eligible to receive funding?

Due to CO-AMP’s mission to double the number of underrepresented minority students (African American, Hispanic, Alaska Native, Pacific Islander and Native American) receiving baccalaureate degrees in STEM, we are only able to give funding consideration to the minority statuses listed above. Additionally, students need to be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. We are required to follow these guidelines in order to continue receiving this grant. By filling out this form and requesting funding from the CO-AMP program, you give us permission to look up your student status in our campus’ student information system.

At the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, these majors are considered to be a part of the STEM field and applicable minority students who are current majors in these fields are eligible to receive funding:

·  Chemistry

·  Computer Science

·  Computer Engineering

·  Electrical Engineering

·  Mechanical Engineering

·  Environmental Studies

·  Biology

·  Health Care Science

·  Math

·  Physics

Eligible activities are:

·  Academic conferences related to STEM

·  GRE test preparation

Full consideration for funding will be given to students/student groups who provide well-written proposals that foster collaboration and demonstrate the greatest impact in advancing minority STEM majors at UCCS. Proposed expenses must be reasonable and well documented. Funds are limited and will be allocated carefully.

REPORT REQUIREMENT

After you receive funding, you are required to meet with the Administrative Assistant for EAS and the Program Director for MOSAIC to collect data that will be used for end of the year reporting to the National Science Foundation. We would expect to meet with you or your student group within 2 weeks of GRE/conference completion.

Award recipients that do not follow the program requirements will be required to pay back expended funds and WILL be denied future funding from the CO-AMP program.
