STIPENDIARY LECTURERSHIP IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE & LITERATURE

Lincoln College invites applications for a Stipendiary Lecturership in English Language and Literature, for Michaelmas Term 2010 and Hilary Term 2011 (1st October 2010 to 31st March 2011) in order to cover a postholder’s sabbatical leave. The successful candidate will be expected to teach an average of six hours per week, per term.

The Lecturer will be required as part of the ordinary duties of the post to provide tutorial teaching, to assist generally in the organisation of teaching in English Literature and the pastoral supervision of undergraduates (including setting and marking Collections) and to assist with the undergraduate admissions process in Michaelmas term. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two FinalHonoursSchool period papers - Paper IV (1509-1642) and Paper V (1642-1740) - and any special options chosen by Lincoln students under FHS 7 (Special Authors) and/or FHS 8 (Special Subjects) which fall within the period range 1509-1740.

The successful candidate will have, or will be in the final stages of completing, a doctorate, and must have teaching experience at undergraduate level in the period range to be covered.

The salary offered is in the range £12,137 to £13,660 per annum pro rata, plus a book allowance, currently £96.50 per annum pro rata, and a hospitality credit, currently £117 per annum pro rata. Common Room Rights are offered which include five meals per week (excluding Domus, Guest and Chapter Day dinners), with the right to bring a guest at the lecturer’s own expense. These rights extend from the Monday two weeks before the start of Full Term until the end of Tenth Week inclusive.
