Power Point – Storyboard Work Sheet
1) Open Power Point - Double click on the Power Point icon
2) Options in Power Point
a) Title Bar / Menu Bar / Standard Toolbar / Formatting Toolbar / Outline Slides Pane / View Toolbar / Drawing Toolbar / Status Bar / Vertical Scroll Bar / Horizontal Scroll Bar / Slide Pane / Notes Pane
b) Many features are the same as Word and Excel
i) Opening a document / Saving a document / Task Pane / Closing and Exiting
3) Design Template – pre created formats for the color, font, and background for a slide show
a) Be sure you have the Task Pane (Edit, Task Pane)
i) On the Task Pane
(1) Under New: Click From Design Template
(2) Under Available for Use: Click the Beam Template
(a) Click on the Colored Box, not the down arrow
4) Insert Text on a Slide
a) Click in the Title Box - Type “Pleasant Grove High School”
b) Click in the Subtitle Box - Type “By: First and Last Name”
5) Save As “Lesson 01”
6) Add a Slide to the Presentation
a) Click Insert, New Slide or Press Ctrl + M
7) Slide 2
a) Change the Slide Layout
i) On the Task Pane, Under Content Layouts: Click Title & Content
b) Insert the following text
i) Click in the Title Box - Type “The Mighty Vikings”
c) Insert a Graphic
i) Click on the Insert Clip Art Icon (Top Row – Third Option)
(1) Search Text: Type “Vikings” and Click Search
(a) Pick any Viking Graphic you want
(b) Click OK
d) Enlarge the Graphic
i) Point at the upper right corner of the graphic (get the 2 sided diagonal arrow)
ii) Click and Hold the left mouse button
iii) Drag the arrow until the graphic fills the content space but is not too large
e) Re-center the Graphic
i) Point at the center of the graphic
ii) Click and Hold the left mouse button
iii) Move the graphic until it is centered until the title
8) Save again As “Lesson 01”
9) Add another slide to the Presentation
10) Slide 3
a) Change the Slide Layout
i) On the Task Pane, Under Text Layouts: Click Title & Text
b) Insert the following text
i) Title - Type “Statistics”
ii) Click in the Text Box
(1) Type ”Address” and Press Enter
(2) Press Tab and Type “700 East 200 South” and Press Enter
(3) Type “Pleasant Grove, UT 84062” and Press Enter
(4) Press Shift and Tab and Type “Phone” and Press Enter
(5) Press Tab and Type “(801) 785-8700” and Press Enter
(6) Press Shift and Tab and Type “Web Site” and Press Enter
(7) Press Tab and Type “www.pghs.alpine.k12.ut. us”
(8) Press Tab and Type “Power School” and Press Enter
(9) Press Tab and Type “204.113.106.2”
11) Save again As “Lesson 01
12) Add another slide to the Presentation
13) Slide 4
a) Change the Slide Layout
i) On the Task Pane, Under Text Layouts: Click Title & 2 Column Text
b) Insert the following text
i) Title – Type “School Colors”
ii) Click in the Left Text Box - Type ”Blue”
(1) Select the text and change the font size to 72
iii) Click in the Right Text Box - Type “White”
(1) Select the text and change the font size to 72
14) Save again As “Lesson 01”
15) Play the Slide Show
a) Click Slide Show, View Show or Press F5
b) Click the left mouse button or Press the space bar to move thru each slide
c) At the end of the show: Click the left mouse button or Press the space bar one more time
16) Reordering Slides – changes the order without having to re-create a slide
a) In the Outline Slide Pane - Click Side 4 and hold the left mouse button
i) Drag Slide 4 so that it is moves above Slide 3
17) Transitions – the way each individual slide changes
a) Click Slide Show, Slide Transition
i) On the Task Pane, Apply to Selected Slides: Click Box Out
(1) Modify Transition: Speed: Change to Medium
(2) Advance Slide: Put a ü in front Automatically after – Change the time to 00:02
(3) Click Apply to All Slides
18) Save again as “Lesson 01” and Play the Slide Show
19) Custom Transitions – the way individual bullets come into a slide
a) Click on Slide 4 - Statistics
i) Click Slide Show, Custom Animations
(1) Click on at the end of Address on the slide pane
ii) On the Task Pane: Click Add Effect
(1) Click Entrance – Click Blinds
(2) Direction: Change to Vertical
(3) Speed: Change to Fast
b) To Making All Bullets come in separately
i) Click the down arrow on Text 2: Address…
(1) Click Effect Options
(a) Change the Tab to Text Animations
(b) Group Text: Change to By 5th Level
(c) Click Ok
20) Save again as “Lesson 01” and Play the Slide Show
21) Printing only a Handout
a) Go to the Print Dialog Box
i) Print What: Change to Handouts
(1) Slides Per Page: Make sure it says 6
ii) Click OK
