AWARDS AVAILABLE TO 4-H MEMBERS IN FOND DU LAC COUNTY
KIWANIS AWARD - The Fond du Lac area Kiwanis sponsors these awards. They are awarded to 4-H members as encouragement to continue their growth in the 4-H program. Members may receive this award only once. It is awarded to youth that have completed 6th grade to 8th grade. A maximum of 15 will be awarded per year. Youth will not be granted a Kiwanis Awards if they have received a county project award in the past or are receiving a county project award this year.
PROJECT AWARD - 4-H members are given this award for excellent work in a specific project area. Fond du Lac County Program Committees set up the criteria for their specific project areas. Written requirements for each project will be shared with you when they become available.
AGRICULTURE AWARD - The member needs to be successful in 2 or more of the following (beef, crops, dairy, dairy management, goats, horse, horseless horse, llama, poultry, rabbits, sheep, swine, tractor, vegetables, vet. science or youth leadership project if related to agriculture).
ARTS & COMMUNICATIONS AWARD - The member needs to be successful in 2 or more of the following (arts & crafts, communications, computers, photography, plant crafts, theatre arts, model horse, music, or youth leadership project if related to arts and communication).
HOME & FAMILY AWARD - The member needs to be successful in 2 or more of the following (child development, clothing, consumer savvy, crocheting, foods, health, home environment, intergeneration, knitting, personal finance, quilting or youth leadership project if related to home and family).
MECHANICAL SCIENCE AWARD - The member needs to be successful in 2 or more of the following (aerospace, bicycling, electricity, robotics, scale models, small engines, tractor, woodworking or youth leadership project if related to mechanical science).
NATURAL SCIENCE AWARD - The member needs to be successful in 2 or more of the following (adventures, bicycling, birds, camping, entomology, fishing, flowers, forestry, home grounds, house plants, naturespace, shooting sports, water or youth leadership project if related to natural science).
CITIZENSHIP - Citizenship is an individual’s response to their membership in a community. The citizenship award is presented to two individuals who have contributed back to 4-H at several levels, such as: project, club, county, district, state or beyond. A member selected for this recognition should have high participation, strong achievement, and various leadership and community service roles. This is a member who shows they were needed, and will be missed when they leave the 4-H program. The member must have completed at least grade 11 at the time of application. This recognition may be earned one time.
LEADERSHIP - The member is selected for outstanding work as a Youth Leader at the club and county level. Emphasis is placed upon leadership, teaching and sharing as a Youth Leader. The member must have completed at least grade 9 at the time of application. Maximum of 10 awards are given annually. This recognition may be earned only one time.
4-H GROWTH ACHIEVEMENT - This award recognizes a member’s overall accomplishment in 4-H over a period of time. A member who shows positive attitude, involvement, growth, breadth and depth in project, club and county 4-H activities earns it. The member must have completed at least grade 9 at the time of application. Maximum of 10 awards are given annually. This recognition may be earned only one time. This award reflects overall achievement.
COMMUNITY SERVICE – This award recognizes youth’s service to the community as a 4-H member. It is awarded to up to two youth in grades 5-8 and up to two youth in grades 9-13. It can be earned once within each grade division.
