Help us celebrate Theodore Geisel’s birthday in style! Starting Monday, February 28th, all of first grade will be dressing up and jumping into the world of Dr. Seuss. Please review the schedule below and help your first grader celebrate this special week February 28th-March 4th.
- Messy Hair Monday (2/28/11):
Dress up that hair like the characters in Whoville! We are having a crazy hair day!
- Top Hat Tuesday (3/1/11):
Dress up in black, white, and red and pick up your hat on the way into class. The Cat in the Hat is back!
- Wacky Wednesday (3/2/11)
Dress up in mis-matched clothes and go to school. Who said that lime green polka dots and blue plaid don’t look great? (This is spring picture day. Select your clothes carefully! )
- Theodore Thursday (3/3/11):
Did you know that before he was Dr. Seuss, Theodore used the name Theo Le Sieg for his books? Le Sieg is his last name backwards. You guessed it: Thursday is Backwards Day!!

Have a Seuss-tastical Week!

Testing Monitors Needed
We need testing monitors the mornings of Feb. 21st and 22nd.
You may contact Mrs. Mushegan if you can help. 918-259-4410
Each teacher I am sure has small items that they may need for their classrooms. I have asked the teachers to include these wish list items in their class newsletters.
Thank you to those who filled lots of wishes over the holidays for our teachers.
Coats in Lost and Found
Winter time is upon us and coats are beginning to show up in our lost and found. Take the time to put your child’s last name or initials inside their coat. This will help us get the coat back to them quickly. If all parents would do this we could easily return the coats to the kids.
Call in Student Absences!!!
If your child is going to be absent from school or late arriving, please contact the school office to notify them of your child’s absence. The school number is 918-259-4410.
Box Tops and Campbell Soup Labels
We are collecting Box Top for Education and Campbell Soup Labels.
Send the labels and box tops to school with your child and have them give them to their teacher.
This will help our schools raise funds and needed supplies.

Parent Volunteers
This school year we are in need of Parent Volunteers who will volunteer for field trips, classroom help, and many class activities. If you would be interested in volunteering at our school for an hour a week or 1 day a week, please let us know. Each volunteer has to fill out a volunteer contract and have it notarized. Mrs. Jenkins our school secretary is a notary. Here is a link to the Volunteer Affidavit and Volunteer Contract.

Our Volunteer Chairman is Mrs. Kanna Guess and she can be reached:
This year, Mrs. Wilson will be starting a new running/walking club. Students will be running or walking during the recess period if they choose to reach running and walking goals throughout the year. Students will also be encouraged to participate in running/walking events in the Broken Arrow and surrounding communities. One of our goals at school is to develop the whole child. Your child’s health and fitness is a major piece in that development!
Thought for the Week
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
