Procedures to Remember
NEVER taste any powders.
Always wipe out your tools between powders.
Use new stirring sticks when changing powder mixtures.
Keep your data table current. Don’t go to the next task without recording the results from the last task.
Go slow. Listen to each other. Take turns. Share.
Be accurate with your measurements.
Discuss many strategies before deciding on one.
Clean up means your work area is completely empty (except for your pencil and journal.) All cups, trays, etc are rinsed and in the sink. All mixtures are in the trash. All good, reusable supplies are back on the supply counter.
Day 1: Properties of Powders
Use the instructions on pp. 27-29. With your team, use your four senses (careful on the smelling! and NO TASTING!!) to describe the five powders.
Clean up. Then, read the article on pp. 30-31 when you are done. You may also illustrate your notebook cover when done reading the article.

Use the data table in the center of your notebook.
Clean up.
Write reflections if you have time. Be ready to share with the class your observations, so everyone’s chart is filled.
