Position: Housekeeper

Responsible to: Ancillary Manager

Location: The Old Vicarage / Longbridge Deverill Nursing Home and Longbridge Deverill House / Staverton House

Purpose of Position

  1. Ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained.
  1. Ensuring the quality and provision of all food and beverages served within the Homes meets the required standards.
  1. Ensure the Homes meet all standards advised by external relevant legislation, EHO, HSE, CQC and internal Risk Assessments.
  1. Create and maintain excellent hotel/customer services and environment.

Principal Duties

  1. Complete control of ancillary staff includes:

-work induction

-recruitment and interviewing

-ongoing training/supervision

-probationary review and appraisals.

-Preparation of rotas

-Supervision of holiday lists

-Disciplinary meetings as required

  1. Monitoring and enforcement of:

-Rotas – cleaning

-Setting of and maintenance of budgets

-Kitchen

-Kitchen temperature charts

-Meat probing temperatures

-Stock levels – for kitchen/cleaners/laundry

-Equipment (kitchen and cleaning)

-Ordering and monitoring stocks for kitchen/cleaners/laundry/PPE

-Liasing with laundry and providing support.

-Kitchen risk assessments.

-Liasing with cooks to ensure provision of healthy varied menu.

  1. Health and Safety (for all staff)

1) Checking records

2) Enforcement of standards

3) Induction and ongoing training

4)Liaising with Infection control leads and maintaining IC standards at all time.

Weekend Duties:

1)Under direction of the Manager any cleaning and laundry as required.

2)Preparation and serving of drinks etc.

3)Assisting serving meals.

Other:

1)Liasing with handyman re repairs/breakages etc.

2)Ensuring equipment within remit is regularly maintained and serviced and appropriate records are kept/maintained.

3)Deputising for ancillary staff to cover holidays/sickness etc.

4)Liaising with equipment manufacturers, suppliers and service engineers as required.

5)Under taking and training or personal development which the company may feel benefits your role.

6)Any other duties as required by the management.
