When we created Glasspan Panel Systems three decades ago, the idea was to rock the world of architects and designers. Now, for the first time, they could: Create stunning, long-lasting interior glass walls and ceilings installed by interior trades; Choose from an infinite number of colors in plain, metallic or pearl finish; Design with a broad selection of metal trims; Be truly "green". That was three decades ago.
Since then we've solved thousands of interior design challenges around the globe, shipping painstakingly finished panels ready to hang upon arrival. We've attracted a parade of imitators. So far none has achieved the close tolerances, beauty, strength, easy maintenance and longevity of our Glasspan(tm) Systems. The imitators continue to come and go, but... We're still here, with consistent, meticulous execution.

1.4 SUBMITTALS

A. Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements.

B. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:

1. ASTM E-84 test for surface burning characteristics of composite panel.

2. Preparation instructions and recommendations.

3. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

4. Installation methods.

C. Shop Drawings: Drawings indicating dimensions, general construction, hardware and installation procedure.

D. Verification Samples: For each color specified, two samples, 4 inches by 4 inches (150 mm by 150 mm) representing actual finish; one to be returned as approved.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 5 year experience manufacturing similar products.

B. Installer Qualifications: Minimum 3 year experience installing similar products.

1.6 PRE-INSTALLATION MEETINGS

A. Convene minimum two weeks prior to starting work of this section.

1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Deliver and store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging bearing the brand name and manufacturer's identification until ready for installation.

B. Storage and Protection: Store materials in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.

1. Store in fully enclosed space where there is protection against damages from moisture, direct sunlight, surface contamination and other causes.

2. Wet work shall be completed in area of storage.

1.8 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1. Environmental Requirements; Building must be fully enclosed and humidity stabilized between 35 percent and 67 percent RH with temperature maintained above 60 degrees F (16 degrees C).

1.9 SEQUENCING

A. Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

1.10 WARRANTY

A. Provide manufacturer's standard limited warranty.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

2.2 MATERIAL

A. Glass panels shall be manufactured by Fuller Phoenix Architectural Products.

1. Surface burning characteristics as required by ASTM E-84, NFPA 235/UL 723 to be Class A (1), labeled and listed by an independent testing laboratory.

2. Flame spread per ASTM E-84 of 25 or less for the full depth panels and facing; Smoke development, 25 or less; labeled and listed.

3. Panels conform to safety standards ANSI Z97.1 and CPSC Reg.16 CFR 1201, I or II, and labeled and listed as such by an independent laboratory.

4. Available types include smooth and textured glass types as available.

5. Coatings types include solid, pear or metallic coating types as available.

B. Product: COLORSPAN panels shall be 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) glass back painted to exactly match architect's sample as visually observed through Surface 1. No scratches or defects shall be allowed.

C. Product: COLORSPAN I panels shall be 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) glass laminated with a .050 inch (1.3 mm) backer to meet ANSI Z97.1. Glass edges to be ground and painted. Back painted color shall exactly match architect's sample as visually observed through Surface #1. No scratches or defects shall be allowed. If installation is to be installed butt jointed, touching edges shall be fitted with a thin vinyl angle to protect from chipping.

D. Product: COLORSPAN II panels (finished on both sides) shall consist of two lites of 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) glass laminated together. Surface #2 shall be mirror or back painted; surface 3 shall be mirror or back panted. Color shall exactly match architect's sample as visually observed through Surface #1 and/or #4. No scratches or defects shall be allowed. Finished thickness shall be 3/8 inch (9.5 mm).

E. Product: GLASSPAN panels shall have 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) glass back painted and laminated to a rigid, wood-framed composite backer. Glass edges shall be ground and painted and finished with 3/64 inch (1 mm) arris detail. Edges to be fitted with vinyl angle to hold constant 1/32 inch (0.8 mm) reveal between glass and metal trim. Color to exactly match architect's sample as visually observed through Surface #1. No scratches or defects shall be allowed. Provide for mechanical attachment and trim detail installation.

F. Product: GLASSPAN II panels (finished on both sides) shall consist of 2 lites of 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) glass back painted laminated to a rigid foam core with perimeter blocking and be nominal 1 inch (25 mm) thick. Surface #2 shall be back painted and surface #3 shall be back painted. Color to exactly match architect's sample as visually observed through Surfaces #1 and/or #4. No scratches or defects shall be allowed. Finished panel thickness shall be 13/16 inch to 1 inch (21 mm to 25 mm).

1. Provide vinyl protective edge angle.

G. Fabrication:

1. Trim shall be as detailed, factory fitted and attached to each panel.

2. Panel sizes and details as per drawings. Panel weight shall not exceed 3.0 lb/sq. ft.
