Dear Kim & Krystal,
Johnny and I wanted to write and let you know how excited we are to have our new family member, Heidi. She is such a sweet dog & has a terrific personality!
Furever Friend’s Dog Rescue was great to work with – you all not only made sure we were the right family to adopt a Clumber, but you also went the extra mile to make sure we had the right dog for us. We can’t tell you how much we appreciate your taking Heidi out in public to see how she would react to crowds, people in general & especially kids. Heidi has been amazing with our 8 month old – she lets him tug on her fur, paws, ears & never makes a sound! She covers him with doggie kisses - which he adores. It’s going to be fun watching them grow up together.
We were surprised though, because every one had warned us about how Clumbers shed & drool, but Heidi really has not been bad. We have been brushing her about once a day – just a quick one outside & that works great. She doesn’t drool as badly as our Boxer did & certainly doesn’t sneeze all over the walls like Dex! Heidi is stubborn though – when she plants her paws, you know it. You can feel all 60 lbs. even though she doesn’t look like she weighs that much. She is quickly learning her boundaries & loves to explore the fenced in backyard – she’s found a favorite spot on the deck to bask in the sun. I’m trying to get a picture of her when she’s upside down snoring! It’s amazing how much she’s learned about our family in just one week. She has piddled a few times in the house – we’ve figured out she doesn’t like a lot of excitement until she’s been outside to potty! It was funny – Johnny mowed the backyard & she chased him as he rode by her. She is learning to sleep longer & hasn’t woken us up in the past few days – as I said, it’s amazing since we’ve only had her for a week.
I need to let you go, but one more thing – thanks so much for putting together our Heidi notebook & for letting us call you with questions. It is so nice to know that you guys are there to help at any time. 24 Pet Watch has already contacted us to let us know they have Heidi’s microchip number on file & how to contact them if we need to. Also, we’ve been on several of the websites you gave us & have ordered her a new tag, collar & leash. You guys are fantastic & Clumbers are just as special as you said!
