AP Biology – Art/Creative ideas for use

  1. Color drawing explaining details/function.
  2. pencils or pens of students choice.
  3. Write/illustrate a children’s book that explains the complicated content in a 1st grade level book. (work in pairs).

3.  Alphabet book (midterm review assignment)

a.  every letter for content item with detailed explanation, includes drawing.

b.  26 pages

  1. Create a Rube Goldberg model (film it working to show to class)/drawing that explains the detailed content.
  2. Create your own operon (metaphor).
  3. materials tbd
  4. Ceiling model representing content/details.
  5. Claymation or cartoon stop-motion animation explaining topic.
  6. min, 20 seconds
  7. Student designed game (no guidelines)
  8. board or other style
  9. no pieces from real games, everything student designed
  10. ideas must be original, no copying ideas from real games (ie. trivial pursuit)
  11. Group dance.
  12. group sizes on determined following consultation with teacher.

10.  Evolution of a product you use (ie smartphone, etc.) using evolution unit terms to explain growth/changes.

a.  Can present in any fashion of students choice (ie. poster board, powerpoint…)

11.  Create a “Choose your own adventure” book explaining a detailed topic covered. (work in pairs) – (cells)

a.  Can use metaphors but metaphors must be fully developed and explained.

b.  includes art/cover design.

c.  book itself to be turned in.

  1. Create a digital animation explaining the content (ie. flash, java, etc.)
  2. Word association poster.
  3. Create your own monolog
  4. must be original written monolog and performed for the class.
  5. Create an original song about topic. (group project)
  6. perform for class
  7. at least 1 group member must play instrument live
  8. Create packaging of a product to sell incorporating details of topic.
  9. ie. cereal box
  10. Create a commercial on film to air for class.
  11. 30 second spot.
  12. Design/create the cover of a science magazine
  13. create the magazine name
  14. using any materials, digital or analog, design mag that makes consumers want to purchase off the stand
  15. includes stories within on unit topics
  16. Wet biology art
  17. ie. if pigs could fly, what would their wings look like?
  18. apply this idea to the chosen unit.
  19. art can be expressed in any form.
