Mission: To provide an interim placement learning environment for students who have been long-term suspended or expelled from school. Students may be considered who have been referred by a building administrator or the Home Hospital coordinator. Students are
provided an opportunity to continue pursuing credit, receive mentoring and support for reentering school as a productive, successful student.

1. Program Description
The Interim Placement Program establishes contact with students and their families upon their suspension from school. An evaluation is made regarding continuing academic work in core areas. Simultaneously, guidance and support are offered to the student and the family to comply with any conditions stipulated for re-entry,
2. Program Structure
Students report in person to Program staff at a neutral location, Room 5, Woodside. After a placement evaluation, a Virtual/on-line account is created, and a face to face contact schedule is determined; students primarily access from home; face-to-face contact time is scheduled to comply with the Alternative Learning Experience “90% rule.”
Written Plan: a written plan of study is designed that suits the individual student’s needs.
Attendance Policy: satisfactory progress per WA State ALE standard.
Full-time or part-time, short term, or semester.
Students are cross-enrolled into the Program from the school of record and remain on the sending schools roll.
Credit will is issued by HIPP and placed on the student’s transcript in .25 increments.
Progress reports areissued to parents and school-of-record administration and teachers as appropriate.
3. Teacher Information
A highly-qualified Highline teacher coordinates and supervises each student. Teachers are selected based upon values, ability to interact with students, and their level program interest.
Teachers are highly qualified in their content area of instruction per WA State Standards
On-line site coordinator proctors student achievement and facilitates student learning.
An online provider of instruction provides instruction aligned to Washington State Standard. HIPP staff provides instructional supervision in all curriculum areas.
4. Student Information
9th through 12th grade students
Students are referred from the school of record.
Students can be assessed academically in reading and math.

60 FTE or equivalency for General Education Students

6. Program Goals
To allow students choice and flexibility while earning high school credits
To provide students 24/7 access anytime, anywhere, or any place for working toward credit advancement or credit recovery.
On time graduation/close the achievement gap
To assist students in making lifestyle adjustments to increase the likelihood of success
To support families in providing the necessary support to their student
7. Educational Information
Full time enrollment = 3-5 courses, depending upon length-of-stay, exit-grades and teacher reports / 6th class, as determined
Accelerated credit achievement option through credit recovery
Contact time is tracked through computer management system
Core academic courses are offered. Electives may be added later.
Where necessary and possible, class curriculum is aligned to the work being done while the student is out of their neighborhood school to facilitate re-entry at semester.
Full-time students collaboratively develop an individualized Written Student Learning Plan
· Computer access
The District will provide student accounts, logons and sufficient training for the student to stay up to date with coursework. Access to a computer lab within the District will be scheduled for each student at a neutral site, under supervision of District personnel, or monitored by trained, online program provided staff. Students may also access their accounts from home, or the public library.
· Graduation Requirements
The Program will cooperate with counselors and registrars at each school-of-record to assure that scheduling aligns with graduation goals
Students use standardized HSD end of course assessments for core subjects

Budget: Full apportionment model
Funding is provided via BEA, and through grant applications

9. Follow-up
Program staff will maintain contact with each student after they reenter school.
Staff will assist them in creating positive contact with an adult mentor in the building.
Students will be allowed to continue their online course enrollment until they successfully complete their classes, or their neighborhood school teacher credits them for work completed.
10. Pre-emptive intervention
To use academic and attendance data, administrative and counselor referrals to provide instructional support to students before the dropout risk is elevated, or disciplinary events rise

To develop a program suitable for the needs of a middle level student
