Job Description – Pre-School Teacher

Overview

Working for Puddle Ducks is a fun role. However, you will have accepted a full term assignment. Your customers and Puddle Ducks expect you to be there every week. There will be occasions, such as if you are ill (or perhaps a holiday request for your own child’s nativity play), when you cannot attend, but these should be minimised and you are expected to get any holiday approved and find your own cover. By minimising the number of occasions that you miss your own lessons, and offering your colleagues flexibility by covering if possible, customer service is maximised.

Role Purpose

·  To ensure customers receive the highest customer service possible through the delivery of professional, friendly, safe, progressive and enjoyable lessons

Responsibilities

·  If classes are available, there is an expectation from you to teach the full range of classes, at a variety of venues.

·  Perform poolside assistant roles from time to time so that you see other teachers working and therefore improve your own offering.

·  Ensuring that by following the guidelines set out in the lesson plans, you provide a lesson that is fun, instructive and child-centred. The customers are your responsibility at all times.

·  You must provide adequate supervision to ensure customer safety.

·  You must have a full knowledge of the pool area, the pool operating and emergency procedures and carry out the necessary risk assessments.

·  Ensuring the area (both poolside and changing area) are tidy, clean and hygienic when you arrive and when you leave.

·  Equipment set-up, following specific pool procedures and ensuring that the all equipment remains clean and undamaged and is stored safely at the end of the sessions.

·  You will ensure that all safety and operational notices are displayed prior to any customers arriving and taken down again at the end of the hire period.

·  Printing and taking the registers prior to each class.

·  Updating the customer database attendance and badges awarded each week.

·  You will be expected to attend promotion days and provide occasional cover for other team member’s absences.

·  Ensuring children are wearing the correct swim attire and have removed jewellery, etc.

·  You may have primary key-holder responsibilities for the pool building.

·  To develop a relationship with your customers; to lead them as a group as well as understand and respond to each individual child’s needs.

·  You will be expected to provide feedback at the end of a teaching period on lessons, pool and any ongoing issues. We invite you to be totally open and honest in this feedback. Open and honest constructive feedback will be regularly given to you and similarly you will be expected to provide it to other members of the team and the management team.

·  You will also be expected to attend continuous professional development sessions that cover emergency procedures, risk assessments and teaching points.

·  Other duties at the same level of responsibility may be allocated at any time.
