Important Information for 2nd Quarter for
Mrs. Stewart’s Math Class
Whew, we made it through 1st quarter and I wanted to make you aware of some important information for 2nd quarter.
The 49er’s team will be moving to a calendar that we will use each month that will take the place of classDOJO. This will be one of our sources of communication to you. (It will be similar to 6th grade.) We will be using this calendar to record infractions and bathroom passes, as well as giving rewards.
If you need to communicate with us, please email first, or call, as we will only check these Calendars once per week for a parent signature.
For Math class:
- Supplies that your child is required to have in class each day – iPad charged - Interactive Notebook (composition book), pencils, folder, loose leaf paper. Many students are coming without these on a regular basis and it will result in infractions.
Assignments completed on a regular basis in class:
- Students are required to complete warm-ups on a daily basis at the beginning of class. These are always problems that have already been learned and only take a short period of time. These will be graded weekly for 1 grade.
- Your child will be completingBraingenie on a weekly basis. Some time will be given in class to complete these skills, but the majority of these skills will be completed at home. Please make sure your child is really taking the time to complete these like they should. Many students are just clicking through the tasks and not taking their time to think through the problems. This will be graded weekly for 1 grade. I can see how many minutes/seconds each student takes on each problem. For example:
This shows me that there were 2 questions, 0 correct. Time spent on both questions = 1min 1sec.
Students should be working out these problems.
Absences:
- Each student will have 2 days for each day absent to complete any missing assignments, per RSS policy. It is the responsibility of the student to gather any missing work. If you and your family are planning to be out of school for an extended period of time, I cannot promise that assignments will be ready ahead of time for those absences. Please don’t hesitate to ask. However, agendas are usually on the webpage that state what occurred in class on any given day, including assignments, notes, and any activities that will occur.
- Many students are not making up assignments from absences.
Grading:
- Per RSS Policy – ASSIGNMENTS are 50% of the students’ grade. ASSESSMENTS are 50% of the students’ grade. This doesn’t mean that all grades can be averaged together. Please email or contact me for more information on this.
- Extra credit – I do not give extra credit unless it is given to all students and is typically given at the time of a test.
- Corrections – Students will have the opportunity to correct any assignment with an unsatisfactory grade. This opportunity will only be given if assignments are turned in on time and 100% complete. It is an opportunity for mastery of the concepts.
Website: The tabs at the top are self explanatory. There is a tab for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, period and 5th period. These tabs will include the daily agendas/assignments, and any notes.
Please contact me at if you have any questions regarding this information. Please sign and return the bottom portion of this paper to me after reviewing it with your child. Your child will receive stamps on the November calendar if it is turned in by Friday October 28, 2016.
I have read, understand, and reviewed the information regarding Math Classwith my child.
