CP Daily Safety Commitment Reminder

As I begin my work today, I need to remind myself of my commitment to personal safety and the safety of those I work with.

I must ensure that I clearly understand the work to be done, and what each of my team members will be doing.

I know the rules and procedures that apply, and must adhere to them.

When I am unsure of how my actions will affect the safety of myself or others, I will STOP until
I am sure.

I know that returning home today after my shift in good health is the number one priority for myself, my family and loved ones, and I realize the same is true for my fellow workers.

I will do my work well and smart, and never jeopardize my safety or that of others for any reason.

I will be aware of my surroundings, Situational Awareness.

I will make this first a SAFE day, and second a productive day.

The 7 Safety Steps

  • Everyone working on our Railway must understand their jobs and be properly trained to do it.
  • Compliance with rules, procedures and policies are absolutely mandatory.
  • Before we begin work each day, everyone within the group working together must understand what is to be accomplished.
  • We take no short cuts.
  • Productivity won't be put ahead of safety.
  • We must have clear communications.
  • People on the job have to be mentally prepared, rested and physically fit to do the job that day.
