Classroom Rules

No food, drink and/or gum are allowed in the classroom without specified permission from the Director.

Students must be prepared and in their seats when the bells rings. “To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, and to be late is unacceptable.”

Students maintain a positive and open attitude. This group is a support system of singers, all of whom are learning the art of using the voice.

Students must be respectful of peers and instructor. This includes being silent when the Director is speaking, respecting the Director’s decisions, and following the Director’s instructions. If this rule is not observed, serious consequences will follow.

Classroom Procedure

Upon entering, students need all required materials and find their assigned seat.

When seated, students should find and arrange their music or books.

Required Dates: All students must attend the performances. Not all students will be chosen to perform.

Pops Concert: May 12, 2016

Please mark your calendars!

Attendance Policy

There are only 3 acceptable excuses for missing a performance. All of these must be accompanied by a note! The three acceptable reasons are: a) professional/personal appointment(i.e. doctor’s appointment, court appearance) b) personal illness c) family death. If there is an emergency the Director must receive a parental note or phone call within 5 days of the absence. Otherwise the absence will be considered unexcused. For each of these reasons, the student must fill out an absence form and have it signed by a parent/guardian.

In each case, it is the student’s responsibility to communicate the absence to the Director in a timely fashion. Notes, emails, and phone calls will be accepted from parents to notify the Director of the absence but it is the student’s responsibility to communicate this first. Families are notified of the concert dates several months in advance in order to plan for it.

Students who have after school jobs should notify their employers well ahead of time about any concerts or programs on the schedule. Usually, the choir only performs 3 or 4 times a year. Many employers, if given a generous time frame, are accommodating of school requirements.

Students excused from a concert or performance will be assigned an alternative project or assignment. Any student who misses a concert and who is not excused will not receive any points for the performance and be automatically deducted the daily participation points for that week. This student will not get the opportunity to make up the work.

All assigned make-up work MUST be returned within one week of the date assigned.

Please mark your calendar for the required 2015-2016 dates mentioned above.

Parents,

If you have any questions, comments or concerns throughout the year please do not hesitate to contact me. The best way to reach me is through email. I check it frequently throughout the day and can get back to you sooner. You may also call the music room; however, if no one is there you cannot leave a voicemail. You may also call either of the offices and the office staff can deliver a note fairly quickly. Thank you for your support and have a great school year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mullins
