This webinar will discuss how plumbing engineers/designers can look at medical gas designs and improve them by understanding some of the ways in which green ideas can be applied even in this specialty. The program will discuss energy consumption and waste stream considerations as they apply to a medical gas design. You will also learn about some emerging technologies in future medical projects which are particularly attractive from the green perspective.

The Presenter : Mark Allen, BeaconMedaes
Mr. Allen has been involved in the medical gas industry since 1978, starting in the verification business running their laboratory. He transitioned to a major manufacturer in 1985 and has held various technical and marketing roles with several of the "big name" medical gas manufacturers. He has been involved in virtually all aspects of medical gas work, including regulatory, testing and certification, marketing, and product development. He is an active member of the National Fire Protection Association Technical Committee on Medical Gas and Vacuum Systems. He is also an active member of the Canadian Standards Association Technical Committee on Medical Gas and Vacuum Systems. He has been honored as a special expert by the MGPHO Verifier's organization and chaired various committees with industry regulatory bodies. He is the author of numerous journal articles, design guides and other technical aids for the engineering of medical gases and a frequent speaker on the various aspects of medical gas for ASPE, ASHE and state regulatory agencies.
