1.  Can I study at Heythrop under the Erasmus Programme?

Before you can apply to Heythrop as an Erasmus student, you must be nominated by your home university. Please check with your study abroad advisor or Erasmus/International Office at your home university to see if Edinburgh has an agreement in your subject area. You can also check our website to see if we have an exchange link with your university.

2.  When can I study at Heythrop?

Erasmus students can study at Heythrop for one term or for the full academic year. Please talk to your Erasmus/International Office to find out which is the best option for you.

Academic Year / September - June
Michaelmas Term / September - December
Lent Term / January - April

Please checkterm dateson our website before you apply.
Please note thatHeythrop does not operate a semester system. Terms in which teaching takes place are from September to December (Michaelmas) and January to April (Lent). The Summer Term (May to mid-June) is for revision classes and examinations only. Modules are assessed by coursework and either an examination or an end-of-module essay. While you may submit end-of-module essays early, no negotiation is possible on examination dates which always begin in May. You will need to verify from our module outlines how the module is normally assessed.

5.  How to plan your programme of study

A handbook containing the list of undergraduate modules available for Erasmus students to study each year can be found on our website. For details of postgraduate modules, please contact our Erasmus Administrator Mr. Daniel Tripp.

Be careful to check whether any modules require prior study of the subject, which may mean you are not eligible to take them. You may be able to demonstrate that previous study at your home institution has covered the same requirements as a prerequisite module; you should discuss this with the ERASMUS Coordinator Dr Gemma Simmonds.

When your programme of study has been agreed with your home institution you should complete a Heythrop ECTS Learning Agreement, have it signed by your Erasmus Coordinator, and submit it together with your Application Form. We recommend that your Learning Agreement contains a total of 30 ECTS credits per term of study.

In your first week you will confirm your programme of study with Dr Gemma Simmonds. After you complete your period of study with us you will be sent a transcript showing your achievements. Please note that undergraduate transcripts will be released after the Undergraduate Award Board has met in July, and postgraduate transcripts will be released after the Postgraduate Award Board has met in October.

Miss Laura Watson

Please complete this form and return to Daniel Tripp, Erasmus Administrator, by the deadline prior to your planned period of ERASMUS study.
