FRC Weekly Report August 1, 2011 to August 7, 2011

North Waziristan Agency:

On 3 August, Four suspected militants were killed and three others injured when a drone fired two missiles on a vehicle in Qutabkhel area of North Waziristan, about seven kilometres from here. Sources said the missiles also damaged a house.

South Waziristan Agency:

On 2 August, Four militants were killed and two others injured when a US drone targeted a car in Nargosa area of South Waziristan, sources said.

On 3 August, Two soldiers were killed in a roadside blast in South Waziristan Agency while three people received injuries when unidentified persons attacked Nato vehicles in Khyber Agency.

Mohmand Agency:

On 7 August, A suspected militant died when his ‘suicide vest’ went off accidentally in Danishkol area of Mohmand Agency.

Khyber Agency:

On 5 August, Five militants and a passer-by were killed when rival groups clashed in Tirah valley of Khyber Agency, while militants blew up a power pylon in Swabi, sources and officials said.

On 6 August, Dozens of Pasedkhel residents in Landikotal were admitted in local hospital as the village has been hit by gastroenteritis for the last one week.

On 7 August, Three schools and a hospital were destroyed in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency while two tribesmen received injuries when militants targeted a passenger vehicle with a remote controlled bomb in Frontier Region of Kohat.

Kurram Agency:

On 2 August, Unidentified persons killed three tribesmen in Kurram Agency near Afghan border while militants hiding in Afghanistan again attacked positions of a local Lashkar in Upper Dir district, sources said.

On 4 August, Accusing the provincial government of discrimination, several non-governmental organisations have criticized the double standards being followed while taking care of more than 546,000 internally displaced persons from Orakzai and Kurram Agencies living in Kohat since 2007.

On 4 August, TheMajlis-i-WahdatulMuslimeen Pakistan has demanded of the government to declare Kurram Agency as calamity-hit area and announce a special package for it.

On 4 August, Ten militants were killed when security forces hit their hideouts in Masozai area in Kurram Agency.

On 4 August, At least 12 militants were killed when gunship helicopters and jetfighters hit their hideouts in central Kurram Agency, tribal and official sources said.

Orakzai Agency:

On 4 August, One person was killed and two others received injuries when militants fired 25 mortar shells from the border of Orakzai tribal region at Darra Adamkhel, officials said.

Peshawar:

On 6 August, A group of militants gunned down a member of Adezai Qaumi Lashkar after dragging him out of a mosque at the village during Taraveeh prayer, eyewitnesses and police said.

On 7 August, At least 10 tankers supplying oil for Nato forces in Afghanistan were destroyed when a huge blast took place at a terminal on Ring Road.

On 7 August, Militants fired three rockets at the residence of deputy head of Adezai Qaumi Lashkar and also blew up three power pylons.
