Event Facilitators:
The Revd Georgie Simpson has a background of parish ministry and pastoral care in a variety of contexts. She is also an experienced spiritual director and retreat leader, and an advocate for more reflective forms of worshipping God. She loves encouraging people to make connections between art, music, poetry and spirituality, resonances that enliven and deepen faith.
The Revd Canon David Mahy is a retired Catholic priest, Canon of St John’s Cathedral and living in the Portsmouth Diocese. He knew Eularia at the end of her life and recognised the spiritual significance of her work and the importance of seeing the Gospel in the here and now of ordinary life, was able to bless the finished paintings..
Eularia Clarke
Eularia Clarke read theology at Oxford but found the Ruskin School drawing lessons she had were more relevant than her degree course. Locating the Gospel stories in her own time and space, the characters have an identifiable immediacy, thus enlivening the Gospels.
Rebecca Sherlaw-Johnson, her grand-daughter, has been instrumental in setting up the Exhibition of Eularia’s work at St Giles’ Church, The Catholic Oratory and the Friends’ Meeting House, between 3 – 23 June. On 10 June at 4 pm, she is giving a talk at St Giles’ on the life and work of her grandmother.

What is OCSG?
The Oxford Centre for Spiritual Growth is co-ordinating the Exhibition and the Day of Reflection and Prayer. OCSG, based at St Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, exists to accompany people in the spiritual journey and to encourage people to explore the deeper meaning of life and the spiritual aspect of what it is to be human.
We aim to offer a variety of approaches and events, involving reflective practice and increasing awareness of God, ourselves and each other.
