Supporting Angel Families is a small charity which will eventually send out specifically trained bereavement counsellors free of charge to families within the community. It is our goal to be able to support these families within the next eighteen months, and certainly by summer 2018.
The counsellors will be sent out to families to their own home and will be able to not only support mummy and daddy but also siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and anyone who has been affected by the loss of the child.
We will be able to provide one to one counselling, couples therapy and group counselling so that we are helping families as the whole.
In order to be able to reach our goal we rely upon the support of the communities in which we will be working. We host several fundraisers per year, in order to raise the monies to fund our counsellors and get them out in to the community.
Not only will we provide support to families but we will also create job opportunities and give advice on training.
As 25% of pregnancies end in a miscarriage and 11 babies a day are still born not to mention other conditions that compromise the viability of the baby, Supporting Angel Families is a valuable resource to have available, within your community.

The money you raise will be used to enable counsellors to go out in to the community to support families that have lost babies in both the pre and postnatal periods. This is a much needed service that will be available free of charge to families. This fundraising pack will enable you to help raise some much needed funds which will enable us to continue our cause.
Included in this pack are ideas of fundraising activities and events you can put on however you may want to do something completely different that may not be included. If you think of anything that is not on the list let us know we are always looking for new ideas.

To find out how you can help.
Come dine with me how to guide
Preparation is everything.
With work and everyone’s other commitments to think about, organising your guests can be a nightmare; especially if you are planning on inviting a large group to the party. We recommend involving no more than four teams/participants in the game, including yourself, as things can tend to get quite tricky with any more. So invite three other guests or if you fancy a couples, challenge three other couples.
Make sure you find a suitable date for everyone, whether it’s in the week or at the weekend, then devise a schedule. Try and ensure that all of your participants can stick to it as best they can. Depending on the size of your group it is probably better to leave a week between each meal so that each contestant has enough time to prepare for their evening.
Budgeting for the meal is vital; you’ll want to leave yourself enough time and money to round up all of the ingredients, party material and wine for a great night in. It’s also a good idea to keep a little bit extra hidden away should anything go wrong nearer the time. After all, being a bit cautious never hurt anybody.
Invitations
If you are first up, take this opportunity to set the tone for the games over the coming weeks by sending out some fancy invites. Tie the theme of your party into the event or if you are keeping it a secret, simply tease a little bit of info about the evening.
On the other hand, if you are not being particularly secretive, provide your invitees with enough information so that they are on time and have everything they need for the night, for example:
- Costumes
- Music
- Games
When posting invitations, it is advised that you leave a week or two before the first event as this will allow your attendees sufficient time to respond and get ready for when it is their own turn.
The invitations will also allow you to ask your guests if they have any likes, dislikes or allergies. You can then make sure you include this in your theme.
Choosing A Theme
The theme is quite possibly the most exciting element of the party.
By now, your friends and family should have responded to your invitations, accepted the schedule and you’re all good to go.
When deciding on a theme, try to make sure that it coincides with what you are cooking and where possible add some games for some great banter. Here are a few ideas to help you get those creative juices flowing.
- Mexican – Mariachi music, a piñata and maybe a little tequila.
- Alice in Wonderland – Cakes, tea and maybe a rabbit stew?
- Beachside – Lifeguard costumes, seafood and some crashing waves sounding off in the background.
There are literally hundreds ideas to get the party started!
Cooking The Meal
When deciding on what to cook it’s a good idea to stick to what you know, whether it’s certain cooking methods, recipes or ingredients; only cook what you are really good at. It is a competition after all.
Have a plan of action:
- How many courses will there be?
- How much time between each course?
- Are all pots, pans and dishes ready?
Have all of the ingredients prepared and allow yourself plenty of time to cook so that you are not constantly in and out of the dining room when everybody arrives; that and no one really likes waiting for their food do they?
Scoring
Ah the scoring system.
While there may not be a camera crew in the room or a swanky black cab waiting to take people home to score your meal, there are other alternatives.
Create a review form for each couple with a score of 1-10 on each course and store the responses in a safe place. No cheating.
Failing that, you can always give the scores to someone who is not playing to look after or even film your guest’s answers on your smartphone. Just make sure you don’t delete them.
Once everyone has hosted, tally up the scores, sort out the prizes and determine who is the best dinner party host.
But above all, have fun.
You could just compete for bragging rights or a small prize such as a box of chocolates or a bottle of wine.

Planning the event
• Choose a date that doesn’t clash with any special event which your guests are likely to attend or an important sporting event they might not want to miss. You also need to think about when you will be selling tickets; for example it’s best not to try and sell tickets over the summer when people are likely to be away on holiday.
