Women’s Self Defense Courses being offered to benefit Tri-County Resource Center

Montrose, CO:

The Valhalla Shooting Club & Training Center at Elk Mountain Resort will be providing two 4 hour Women’s Assault Prevention courses to benefit the Tri-County Resource Center and support National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Valhalla recognizes that violence against women is one of the leading social problems in the world today. The unique realistic facility combined with Valhalla’s world-class instructor staff make training at Valhalla an incredibly empowering experience.

These Courses, scheduled for the evening of April 23rd and the afternoon of April 24th, will be offered for a suggested donation of $50 to the Resource Center, the facilities, equipment and instructors are being provided free of charge for these two special events. The lead instructors for these courses will be Thomas Forman, owner of Elk Mountain Resort and Robert Pincus, Director of Operations at Valhalla, both of whom are certified Personal Protection Instructors.

Thomas Forman is an internationally recognized expert on rape prevention and self-defense. He has spent 29 years studying martial arts, hand-to-hand combat and martial philosophy. Mr. Forman was a professional wrestler and spent 2 years as a professional no holds barred competitor. Mr. Forman has conducted workshops in assertiveness training for the University of California and conducted women’s self defense seminars through his own company for over a decade. Mr. Forman has written a manual for Instinctive Self Defense & Rape Prevention.

Robert Pincus is a nationally known training consultant specializing in reality based scenarios designed to empower people to defend themselves or others in realistic environments and situations. Mr. Pincus’ articles on training and tactics have been published in several national magazines and he has extensive experience instructing law enforcement, special operations and executive protection personnel. While in law enforcement, Mr. Pincus served as a Crime Prevention Officer and worked closely with victims of sexual assault. Mr. Pincus is also a certified Personal Defense Readiness™ coach and teaches at Executive Security International’s Anti-Stalking Program.
