Volunteers make wonderful contributions to our campus activities, classroom projects, and special events at BJH. Elections of officers are to be held at the next Beck PTA General Membership Meeting, Today, March 20th at 2:45pm in the Beck Library. All PTA Members are welcome to attend. If you are interested in any of the above positions, nominations will be taken from the floor.
Junior Achievement - Come spend a great day withour Beck 6th graders teaching Junior Achievement!
When: Thursday, April 17th (Early Dismissal Day)
- Each volunteer will be assigned to a teacher's schedule for the day. You will teach the same lesson to all of that teacher's classes. For example, math teachers will have math lessons, etc.
- The teacher will be present in the classroom for assistance.
- Material will be distributed ahead of time so that you have plenty of time to prepare.
- Want scheduling flexibility? No Problem! We will make every effort to schedule you in the subject that you feel most comfortable or in one of your child's classes.
Junior Achievement is a valuable program that the kids REALLY enjoy. Please agree to volunteer this year by contacting Vicki Hall at .
8th Grade News
- Career Day - On Friday, April 25, 2014, Beck will host its annual Career Day for our 8th graders from 1-2:30pm. Check in is at 12:30. This volunteer opportunity is not exclusive to 8th grade parents. All grade level parents are encouraged to consider volunteering for this event. We need all types of professionals/careers, so if you are interested or you know someone who might be interested, please e-mailEve Schaeferor Jessica Duckat r . Remember that no formal presentation is required.The students walk around and interview professionals of their choice.Sample questions are provided ahead of time so you know how to prepare. Set up is easy.Use a tri-fold display or bring your lap top and run a PowerPoint. - Attention 8th Grade Parents - By now you should have received the packet for the 8th grade party on May 9th. Please be sure and sign and return the Party Guidelines Acknowledgment, purchase your party tickets, sign up and pay for Dance and Etiquette classes and sign up to volunteer for the event. Cheerleader and Mascot Try-out Information
Mandatory Tryout Clinic is where the girls will learn their cheer, dance, and proper motion and jump technique for tryouts. Mandatory Mock Tryout is when the girls will run-through a practice tryout, and be critiqued by the current 8th grade cheerleaders.
Tryout Packets are due to Mrs. Ward by Wednesday,
March 26, 2014 before 3:10pm in the Counselor’s office.

The 2013-2014 Beck yearbooks are on sale now. Don’t miss this opportunity to own the biggest story of the year. It will reflect special moments for all of us, with individual photos of our entire school family, as well as candid shots and great collages. It will be a colorful collection of memories that your child will cherish forever.Ordering Instructions: The only way to receive a yearbook is to order one online. Simply go to enter the school name and click on the yearbook icon. The cost of the yearbook is $50, plus shipping and handling. Optional accessories are also available.
From The Clinic
6th grade parents please note the following shot requirements before entering 7th grade. Documentation can be submitted to the clinic during the school Year. Remember to keep a copy for your records. Contact the clinic at 281-237-3325 with any questions.
Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap):Tdap is required for all students entering 7th grade if at least 5 years has lapsed since the last dose of a tetanus containing vaccine (DTap, DPT, DT). If 5 years have not elapsed since the last dose of a tetanus containing vaccine at entry into 7th grade, then this dose will become due as soon as the 5 year interval has passed. Td is acceptable if Tdap is medically contraindicated.
Meningococcal Vaccine: One dose is required for all students entering 7th
Varicella vaccine (chickenpox): Two doses are required with the first on or after the first birthday, and the second dose prior to entry in the 7th grade, unless a parent or physician statement of disease is on file. Additional information regarding these immunizations including exemptions from immunizations can be obtained through the Texas Department of Health website
Proof of Immunization - For all enrolled students, shot documentation needs to be stamped or signed by the facility and include the month, day and year the vaccine was given. Computer print outs are valid only if the administering facility has stamped/signed the print out. Please keep a copy for your records when submitting them to the Beck Clinic.
Sick Students with Cell Phones - Students who contact their parents by personal cell phone for medication or for an illness or injury that has not been assessed by the nurse will be handled through Attendance and, if taken home, will be dismissed as a parent excused absence.
From CRHS
The Encore Dance Company is an art based dance company created to provide dance performance opportunities to those who wish to develop and refine their dance skills and possibly audition for Cougar Stars in the future. There will be a mandatory audition information meeting on Tuesday April 29th at 6:30pm in the CRHS Dance Gym. Both the student and their parent/guardian must attend this meeting.
Audition clinic will be held on May 13th and 14th from 3:30-5:30pm in the CRHS Dance Gym. *Encore Auditions will be on May 15th at 3:30pm in the CRHS Dance Gym.
