Step by Step guide to applying for a Licence
Each Coach to be Licensed must create their own User Name and Password and register themselves: it is possible for the Teacher in Charge to complete these forms on behalf of coaches, but a different form is required for each coach
Step 1
Applicant coach registers with the RFU on rfu.com (using the “Log in/Register” tab on the rfu.com home page www.rfu.com/usermanagement/login ) and is allocated a User Name and Password. Coaches who have already have a User Name and Password can retrieve their details using the “Recover Password” facility.
(If the teacher already has a RugbyFirst or rfu.com username and password that they already know this can be used)
Step 2
Go to: http://clubs.rfu.com/coachlicensing/
Login with User name and Password achieved through Step 1
Click “Application Form” from the Links menu on left
Press “Continue”
On second screen, complete the appropriate sections of the form.
In Section 2, Click “Teacher”
In Section3, under “Address”, teachers may enter either a home or school address
In Section 5, under “Coaching Qualifications” enter “Teacher Licence”
Scroll to bottom of screen and click “Submit Application”
(Note that this form is also used when applying for Coach Education courses. The text above the form refers to these courses. It is not relevant to teachers applying for Coach Licence)
NB. Note Rugby First ID, which appears on the application form. The Head Teacher will require this to endorse each application on the form above
Step 3
Head Teacher, or appropriate nominee within the school, sends electronically the names and Rugby First ID of coaches endorsing the online applications on the Endorsement Document to
Alternatively, print, complete and return to Judy Weavers at the RFU, Twickenham, TW1 1DZ
Step 4
RFU cross checks endorsements with applications and authorises endorsed applications
Coaches will receive a hard copy mailing from the Union to the address nominated in Section 3, which will include their credit card sized plastic Licence
Coaches may then refer to themselves personally – and on CVs – as an “RFU Licensed Coach”
Step 5
From September 2013, Licensed coaches will be able to purchase RFU branded tracksuits direct from the Union. It is possible for schools to purchase these for their staff and embroider their own logo on the opposite side from the RFU Rose logo. Details of this opportunity will be sent to all Licensed Coaches.
