Hall of Fame

General Requirements for Nomination

In order to maintain the integrity of the Hall of Fame, the following criteria are established for nominations.

1.  Nominees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and moral character. All candidates will be judged on their significant and/or long term contributions to the academic/athletic programs of Morristown West High School. Acknowledged leadership in his/her chosen field or community, state, and national presence will be considered.

2.  Nominees must be elected by a majority vote from the Hall of Fame Committee.

STUDENT/ATHLETE

v  Any person who distinguished himself/herself in the field of academics or athletics while a student at Morristown West High School (i.e. National Merit Scholar, AP Scholar, All-American, All-State, All-Conference, Outstanding College Accomplishment, Professional Athlete …

v  Must have graduated from Morristown West High School.

v  Must have graduated at least ten (10) years prior to nomination.

ALUMNUS

v  Any person who distinguished himself/herself in the field of academics/athletics after graduation from Morristown West High School.

v  Any alumnus who has been exemplary in instruction or support of Morristown West High School academics or athletics.

v  Any alumnus who has achieved regional or national acclaim since graduation.

v  Must have graduated at least seven (7) years prior to nomination.

TEACHER/COACH

v  Any teacher/coach with at least (5) years of service at Morristown West High School and fifteen (15) years of teaching/coaching experience.

v  Nominee must be inactive to be eligible.

v  Nominee must not have been employed by the Hamblen County Schools for at least five (5) years.

CONTRIBUTOR

v  Any individual who has made outstanding contributions to the academic/athletic programs at Morristown West High School other than as a student/athlete or teacher/coach.

*List may include administrators, faculty, fans, and advocates of Morristown West High School.

v  Any individual who has distinguished himself/herself in one or more of the following areas: community contributor, professional accomplishment, education, political leadership, humanitarian contributions.

NOMINATING PROCEDURES

The following procedures shall be utilized for nominations to the Morristown West High School Hall of Fame.

1. Inductees may be nominated either:

a) by the selection committee

b) by current administration, faculty, and staff

c) by alumnus

2. Nomination Form

a) All entries must be submitted on the official Morristown West High School Hall of Fame Nomination Form.

b) The nomination form shall be available through the main school office or the school’s web page.

c) The nomination form shall be completed and submitted to and received by the Principal along with appropriate support material by July 31st of each year for a candidate to be considered for induction in the next school year. All nominations received for consideration must contain active and current address and contact information for the nominee (or family if deceased). Failure to supply support material will disqualify the application.

d) In addition to the official nomination form, the following materials should be submitted for an individual’s consideration:

1. A letter of recommendation from the person making the nomination, and other letters of support from appropriate individuals who can validate or substantiate pertinent information related to the high school career of the nominee.

2. A suitable photograph for reproduction should be submitted.

3. Term of Nomination

a) Following initial nomination, a candidate shall remain eligible for induction for the following five (5) years. After this time has expired, the candidates name must be re- submitted on a new nomination form in order to be considered.
